SERVICE FOR THE LORD’S DAY

Prelude Chiming of the Hour Welcome and Announcements

Now let us listen, for you speak among us; open our hearts to receive what you say. Peace be to all who remember your goodness, trust in your word, and rejoice in your way!

*Call to Worship O magnify the Lord with me; let us exalt God’s name together. Look to God with joy, and never be ashamed. O taste and see that the Lord is good.

Happy are those who take refuge in God.

*Hymn 482 Praise Ye the Lord, the Almighty *Call to Confession *Prayer of Confession Bread of life, we are hungry and thirsty. We are starving for something that we can believe in, something that we can trust. We want to be rid of the emptiness in our lives, so we fill it with empty promises, empty calories, empty relationships, and find ourselves malnourished, and desperate, and still craving more. We are so sorry. You are the bread that came down from heaven. You offer us more than our fill. You offer us everything. You offer us life forever. Help us to receive your hospitality and your gifts of life that we might have abundant life forever with you Time for silent confession. And all God’s people said: Amen.

Refrain The rule of ancient law required Burnt of f’rings for my part; a nobler sacrifice is mine, I offer God my heart. Refrain O would that all, in ev’ry place, knew God as I have known; God shares my joy, and in my grief will leave me not alone. Summer Choir

Reminder that choir will meet at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays instead of Thursday for a short rehearsal be-fore worship at 10:00 (Thursday rehearsals will resume September 6). All welcome! All ages and lev-els of experience are encouraged to come when you can. We will learn the introit and psalm for the day, and perhaps an easy anthem. Also, let me know if you are willing and able to offer an anthem in worship, as a soloist or part of an ensemble. I have lots of music for duets, trios, etc, and singers who enjoy singing in a small group. Come by the choir room to browse through music (or bring your own) and select a date. Instrumental-ists are also welcome! The Guitar Workshop is meeting on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Choir Room. The Guitar Work-shop is led by Steve James, who provides instruction for both guitar and bass guitar, as well as con-versation on a number of music topics. All skill levels are taught, beginner to advanced. New mem-bers are always welcome. For more information, please contact Steve James at 705-0742 or Randy Pietrzak at 310-7808. .
