Do you have a desire to impact lives for Christ?
First Presbyterian
Church
Devotion for February
G ive that desire voice
by getting involved
with Vacation Bible
School 2013. This
year’s VBS is from Group
Publishing and is entitled,
Kingdom Rock: Where Kids
Stand Strong for God. It will
take place June 2-June 6. If you
have children who are not yet old
enough for VBS – don’t let that
prevent your participation as a Nursery will be provided for your little
ones! Janet Phillips and Lanee Proctor were the first to volunteer. Pastor
Bill is on board for music with the children! Additionally, Julie Pucci will
lead the children in songs from the curriculum. Laura Behrens,
Ruth Hunt, Elizabeth Jost, Alicia Cole, and Lacy Allison have stepped up
to say they’d like to help too! Station Leaders are needed for the follow-
ing stations: Imagination Station, The King’s Kitchen, Tournament
Games, Spotlight VBS leader, and Fanfare Finale. In addition, a director
for Pip’s Pre-School Palace VBS is needed and four leaders are needed for
the pre-school portion of VBS: Bible Adventures & Missions, Games,
Chadder’s Theater and Craft & Play.
Station Leaders are the core of our VBS. These are the people
who teach and show God’s love to the VBS participants. Kids look for-
ward to seeing the Station Leaders each day! A Station Leader will
gather the needed supplies for his or her station, or let Susan know what
is needed. A Station Leader will make sure the room is appealing and
fun! It’s our goal to have all Station Leaders on board and ready to get
trained by the end of March. And, then kick off April with a Staff –
Training meeting. If you are a seasoned VBS pro, or you’ve never volun-
teered before but would like to help lead children to the Lord, then this is
the volunteer opportunity for you! Prayerfully consider your involve-
ment with this ministry. It is not only for children of our church but it’s
for children in our community as well. Please call Susan Gober, 655-5694,
for more information.
L ife is this simple:
We are living in a
world that is abso-
lutely transparent and
God is shining through
it all the time. This is
not just a fable or a
nice story. It is true.
If we abandon our-
selves to God and for-
get ourselves, we see it
sometimes, and we see
it maybe frequently.
God shows Himself
everywhere, in every-
thing — in people and
in things and in nature
and in events. It be-
comes very obvious
that He is everywhere
and in everything and
we cannot be without
Him. It's impossible.
It's simply impossible.
The only thing is that
we don't see it.”

I f you’ve participated in any of the METS events over
the last two years, or you’ve wanted to and the events
have not suited your schedule – you are invited to a
planning lunch on Thursday, February 7 at 11:45 a.m.
in the Wood Fellowship Hall. METS, open to any and all
adults, stands for Meet, Eat, Travel and Serve. We’ve met,
we’ve eaten, we’ve traveled and now in 2013 we need to serve!
This lunch will be an opportunity for the group to plan a ser-
vice project and whatever social outings we’d like to take dur-
ing 2013. You will be treated to a delicious lunch! Please
RSVP to the church office, 655-5694 by 2/6/13.

Thankful Hearts
T H E L A M B ’ S K I N
Dear Church Family,
Thank you everyone for your
prayers. My knee surgery went well
and I am progressing through physi-
cal therapy now. I did so appreciate
both Rev. Bill and Rev. Jasper vis-
iting me at the hospital; their love
and concern blessed me with peace.
I have to add that Jasper brought
laughter; I didn’t know he was such
a comedian but we sure had fun.
Thanks to others for your visits,
cards, flowers, candy and other gifts
of love. May our Lord God bless this
church richly in the New Year.
Carolyn Bradley
Dear Church Family,
Thank you for the beautiful
sanctuary flowers delivered by Ezra
Walling on Sunday, January 6. I
also want to thank Bette & Don Al-
lison who gave them in loving mem-
ory of Betty Louise Bramlett and
LaRue Davis Allison. The flowers
are like sunshine on these cloudy
days with the yellow daisy mums
and white carnations. It is heart-
warming to know that you are re-
membering me with your prayers.
God is answering them as I continue
to improve with each passing day.
The physical therapy is rough but I
am a tough lady! Praise God! Hugs
and the peace of our Lord for everyone.
Carolyn Bradley
Dear Church Family,
Thank you for the beautiful
flower arrangement. It was a complete
surprise, and will certainly brighten
my day and all week! Had a wonderful
visit with our newly installed Deacon,
Casey Puckitt, who delivered the flow-
ers. It was such a joy to meet him.
Thanks again.
Anne Stoker
Dear Church Family,
We were truly blessed during
the Advent season when the carolers of
the church came over to our home to
share the wonderful carols of the sea-
son. It was such a joy to see dear
friends of the faith and to hear them
sing some of our favorite carols!
Thank you for the beautiful poinsettia.
We are enjoying it more than you will
ever know! With joy, love, prayers &
blessings always,
Londa & Dan Snider
Dear Members of our Church Family,
Thank you so very much for the
warm thoughts and prayers during our
time of need. We appreciate all of the
wonderful desserts that were provided
for our family and friends after Rudy’s
service and please know how proud she
was to be a member of First Presbyterian
Church.
With love,
The Akin Family

Don’t miss the Spaghetti Lunch! Youth Fundraiser
T he youth group has a church-wide luncheon planned to raise
funds for their Compassion International sponsored children in
Africa, Simbi and Agness. The luncheon will be held in the
Wood Fellowship Hall immediately after the service on
February 10. Plates will be served on a donation basis. Please plan to en-
joy this good meal and great service from our youth.
The menu will consist of:
spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, garlic bread, and dessert.

Meals sponsors needed
for weekly youth events!
T hree different times during
the course of a week, a meal
is provided to our youth—Sunday
evenings, Wednesday lunch and
Wednesday evenings. Sponsors
are needed to help keep those par-
ticipating in youth events well fed!
If anyone would like to
help our ministry by providing
food or a donation for food, please
contact Bradley Morgan at 432-
557-5014.
If you’d like to help but
providing an entire meal for sev-
eral hungry teenagers seems over-
whelming, let Brad know and per-
haps you could join forces with
another—cutting your expense or
workload, whichever!
Youth Sunday is
April 21, 2013—the Youth
Choir will begin rehearsals on
February 24, 2013 immediately
following the Worship Service.
They will meet in Room 101
under the direction of
Julie Pucci.
All students in grades 6th
through 12th are encouraged
to participate.
