In what ways do you intend your media product to use, develop or challenge forms and conventions?

The colours I have chose for my magazine are purple and white. I wanted to continue this theme throughout my magazine. During my planning process I asked a variety of people what colours that would like to see in a magazine. The colour that came up the most was black so I decided to incorporate this in my magazine. I also used a bold font to make the sell lines stand out and all of my sell lines are in capital letters.

These two mastheads are similar in the way that the font is bold and a bright colour. I added a drop shadow on my masthead to create more of a 3D effect.

I wanted the main image to give direct address so she was looking straight at the reader, this would attract the reader to buy the magazine. I also based my models pose on image from ‘vibe’ magazine cover. The outfit that I put my model in I believe suited the genre of the magazine very well and also my model being white and R&B female singers are stereotypically black I thought this challenged the conventions.

The layout of both my magazine and the example I was getting ideas from are very similar. I decided to have the main image in the middle of the page giving direct address and sell lines around the outside of the image. I had the barcode in the corner of the page as ‘vibe’ magazine had done and the mast head behind the image making the image stand out and appear bigger.

I wanted to keep a continuous theme of the same colour through out my magazine so I used purple and white text again on a black background. I also believe that the outfit that the model was wearing fits nicely with the colours on this page. I have used a mixture of different font sizes such as capital letters and lower case to make the text stand out.

As you can see I have taken several aspects of the example contents page I was working of and used similar things in mine. I decided to have the image positioned to the right hand side of the page and the text on the left side of the page. I also liked the way that vibe magazine had broken up the word ‘Contents’ and displayed it so I wanted to use this in my contents page.

Again i wanted to keep a continuous theme of the same colour through out my magazine so I used purple and white text again on a black background. I have used a mixture of different font sizes such as capital letters and lower case to make the text stand out. I also used italics on one side of my double page spread.

As you can see I have taken several aspects of the example double page spread I was working of and used similar things in mine. I decided to have the image positioned to the left hand side of the page with text behind the image to make the image stand out. I also put righting on the right had side with four images along the bottom like ‘vibe’ magazine have done with there double page spread at the top.
