Coordinator’s Corner

Goodbye 2017 and Hello 2018! We had a wonderful year of travel to great places in Iowa, Nashville and Canada. Many memories to cherish! Now it's time to make plans for a new year of fun and fellowship with your choice of activities.

2018 ACTIVITIES Take a look at the activities for the new year on the cover page and on pages 4 and 5. Iowa has so many treasures tucked away in rural areas and small towns. It's fun to explore them while we are amazed that we didn't know about them or had never been there before. Alaska, the last frontier, has been a very popular destination. When we grew close to our 40 traveler limit, we were able to secure more seats for this May tour. Room for you and your friends! San Antonio in its holiday splendor will be waiting for us right after Thanksgiving. As always, I'll save a day for a one-day Christmas tour too.

TRAVEL CERTIFICATES Just a reminder that these do not expire, despite the date on the Certificate.

TRAVEL INSURANCE This protection can be

purchased for a trip whether the trip is for one day or more and whenever insurance is not included in price of the trip itself.

PHOTOGRAPHY RELEASE FORM Photos are commonly taken during our club activities. Group photos are printed in the Prestige Club newsletter which is mailed to members and friends and the newsletter is also available on our bank website. Your signature gives permission for the use of these photos in these ways. This form will be available during these events. You need only to sign the form one time.

PAST TRIP UPDATES:Amish Trip, 2017: Ike Boettjer, right tackle for the Hawkeyes and son of Kris Boettjer, owner of Barn Happy restaurant in Cedar Falls, is still recuperating from his season-ending injury and was not able to play in the bowl game.Mississippi River tour, 2016: Remember the scary car bridge crossing from Sabula, Iowa to Savanna, IL? The new replacement bridge opened this fall. The old 1932 bridge was so narrow that semis had to fold in their mirrors to pass. It was just 20 feet wide with no shoulders. The new bridge is twice as wide and much safer. Canadian Rockies tour, 2017: A Sierra Club's 1928 annual outing to the Canadian Rockies was Ansel Adams' first trip as official photographer. He wrote to his wife: "These Mountains are breathtaking - utterly different than anything we have seen...These are the great mountains we dream about." Those who went on this trip can heartily agree!

Here’s some goals to consider:Include Prestige Club in your New Year’s Resolutions!

Resolve to: • Attend at least one PC activity • Encourage a friend to join our club • Sign up for activities early • Spread the word about the fun and the great fellowship!

Sensational CELEBRITY CRUISE LINES Celebrity cruise ships are among the world's top ranked cruise ships. In fact, Celebrity Cruises has been voted the best Premium Cruise Line eight years in a row by Travel Weekly’s “Readers Choice Awards”. What earns Celebrity these remarkable accolades? Luxurious accommodations, airy spaces with exceptional details, restaurants where the atmosphere is as appealing as the globally inspired cuisine, onboard destination experts to enhance your wilderness experience, and the opportunity to do as much or as little as you choose.

Celebrity has partnered with some of the world’s most respected brands to bring you a plethora of unforgettable experiences. From the first Apple Specialist at sea, putting the latest technology at your fingertips, to Riedel Crystal, Smithsonian Journeys and the Corning Museum of Glass, your vacation will come alive with opportunities to master winetasting, cooking, dancing, and creating art treasures.

The evening menu is equally as enticing, with spectacular stage shows, late night comedy, Big Band dancing and the chance to let your hair down at a rambunctious Rock n’ Roll concert. The stunning main restaurant is the centerpiece of the ship and a masterpiece in design, cuisine and service. Menus are crafted by a team of James Beard featured chefs and the array of delicacies changes nightly.

One of the jewels of the Celebrity fleet is the Millennium, which will be taking you on this voyage of discovery. She will show off her “Grand Make-over”, which was completed in May 2016. Since we are already at the airport, you can enjoy a relaxing evening and a good night’s sleep in anticipation of our incredible adventure.Day Two - Thursday – May 17, 2018AWESOME ANCHORAGE CBGrab a “bag breakfast” at the hotel before we fly north to Alaska. The frontier city of Anchorage is ringed by snow-capped mountains and over-flowing with hanging baskets of gold and blue flowers. A tour of this city’s most important sights includes the world's largest seaplane base. As evening approaches, you are invited to explore the tempting restaurants and cafes along 5th Street, just steps from our fine hotel. Day Three - Friday – May 18, 2018 B - L - DRIDING THE ALASKAN RAILROADThis morning we’re rambling along the Alaskan Railway in reserved Domed Car seats. Breakfast and two cocktails are offered in the Dining Car and our panoramic windows are filled with stunning vistas. Fields of wild flowers, and stands of alder, birch and aspen line the route. By early afternoon, it’s time to board the elegant Celebrity Millennium. Meander along her broad decks and soak up the spectacular scenery as our luxury liner begins to thread her way through the breathtaking Gulf of Alaska. Day Four - Saturday – May 19, 2018 B - L - D +GLORIOUS GLACIERSEarly this afternoon we’ll enter the pristine beauty of Hubbard Glacier. With 1,350 square miles of blue ice, it is the longest glacial river in North America. It is also one of the most active glaciers in Alaska. So as we approach, listen for thunderous rumblings ahead. Suddenly the spectacle

will come into view, and you’ll watch huge slabs of ice break away and crash into the sea. As we cruise along, seabirds wing overhead, seals bask on bobbing icebergs, and sea otters and porpoises frolic merrily in the frigid water. Day Five - Sunday – May 20, 2018 B - L - D +TAKE A JAUNT AROUND JUNEAU Today’s stop shows you Juneau, Alaska’s awesome capital, scenically situated between the cliffs of Mt. Juneau and the Gastineau Channel. During our visit here, you might choose to explore Mendenhall Glacier, the world’s most photographed link to the last Ice Age, or raft down the mild rapids of the Mendenhall River. You could even take in some sport fishing, flight-seeing, or a fun-filled Salmon Bake, complete with the chance to pan for gold! Day Six - Monday – May 21, 2018 B - L - D +THE GHOSTS OF GOLD RUSH DAYS This morning, we'll call at Skagway, a town that time forgot. Once staging grounds for the Gold Rush of ’98, the ghosts of those glory years can still be heard as you walk down wooden boardwalks to the world famous Red Onion Saloon. If you want to experience one of the most scenic train rides in the world, book an optional trip on the White Pass & Yukon Railway, or perhaps you’ll choose to explore Skagway on an Antique Street Car Tour, visit "Liarsville" Gold Camp or take a Horse Drawn Carriage Ride through town. Day Seven - Tuesday – May 22, 2018 B - L - D +AUTHENTIC ALASKA IN ICY STRAIT POINT Today we’ll visit one of the most unique ports-of-call in Alaska: Icy Strait Point. With little commercial development, it is here that you’ll find the largest settlement of native Tlingit Indians in Alaska. You can immerse yourself in their rich history and culture at a traditional dance celebration, or you could opt to explore the nearby Spasski River Valley, well known for its abundant brown bear

population. For the truly adventurous, the ultimate experience awaits: Icy Strait is home to the longest ZipRider cable in the world! Day Eight - Wednesday- May 23, 2018 B - L - D +CAPTIVATING KETCHIKANThe Celebrity Millennium proudly sails into Ketchikan, the Salmon Fishing Capital of the World and home to the largest original collection of Totem Poles in Alaska.
