FROM OUR PASTOR. . .

After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (From today’s Gospel) Jesus spent forty days and nights in the desert to prepare for his mission of proclaiming the Gospel and fulfilling the will of God. We have now entered into these forty days and nights of the desert called Lent. A challenging season that calls us into a journey of conversion and repentance, a journey we share with all Christians. Once again this year we will be participating in the Ecumenical Lenten Series with some of our neighboring churches. The overall theme for the series this year is “A Journey of a Lifetime.” The dates and locations are:

Feb. 21st – St. James United Methodist Church, East Troy (Deacon Greg preaching) Feb. 28th – Caldwell United Methodist Church, Mukwonago (Pastor Nhia Wahn Her preaching)

Mar. 7th – Caldwell United Methodist Church, Mukwongao (Taize Service) Mar. 14th – UCC Church of East Troy (Pastor Teresa preaching) Mar. 21st – St. Peter the Apostle, East Troy (Fr. Mark preaching) All of the Services are on Wednesdays at 7 PM. On Feb. 21st at St. James and on Mar. 21st here at St. Peter’s we will begin with a pot-luck supper at 6 PM and then have the prayer service at 7PM. An offering will be taken at each Service to benefit the Local Food Pantry. Please plan on being part of this shared experience this Lent. Have a great Lent and God’s blessings to you all – Fr. Mark

SCRIP is simply a word that means “substitute money”. They’re the same prepaid cards that you buy at the store. And now you can get your SCRIP prepaid cards through the Parish office. What an easy way to help the parish education programs!! Groceries and gas are just a few. Next time you are on your way to Frank’s Piggly Wiggly, Wal-mart, Pick-N-Save, Shell, Home Depot, Subway, or Cousins, stop in at the Parish office to pick up a card. The office is open Monday through Friday, 9 am until 4 pm, except on Wednesday. You pay nothing more for the card ($50 buys a $50 card) but SCRIP donates a percentage of the card to the parish education programs. If you would like to learn more about this program, call the parish office at 262-642-7225 X3 during office hours. You can also order online. Orders can be placed directly on line at www.shopwithscrip.com using the

enrollment code of 2B52E3F622428.

Parishioner needs help transferring his wife in and out of van twice a week for therapy. If you can lend a hand, please call Ron Chmiel at 642-5158.

Disciplines of Lent In addition to choosing your own penitential practices, Catholics are also asked to observe the practices of fast and abstinence during the 40 days of Lent. The Lenten Fast and Abstinence Regulations are: 1. Everyone 14 years of age or over is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent. 2. Everyone 18 years of age and under 59 years of age is bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. (the obligation of fasting ceases with the celebration of one’s 59th birthday). 3. Fasting on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday means eating only one full, meatless meal. Two other smaller, meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted on these two days, but liquids, including milk and fruit juices, are allowed. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. 4. Catholics should not lightly excuse themselves from these prescribed minimal penitential practices.

Eucharistic Adoration at St. Peter’s

Eucharistic Adoration is the adoring or honoring of the

Eucharistic Presence of Christ. In a deeper sense, it

involves "the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly

present before us."

During Eucharistic Adoration, we “watch and wait,” we

remain “silent” in his Presence and open ourselves to his

Graces, which flow from the Eucharist. By worshiping the

Eucharistic Jesus, we become what God wants us to be.

Like a magnet, the Lord draws us to himself and gently

transforms us.

At St. Peter’s, we have adoration available every Tuesday,

from 9:15 am to 6:00 pm and the first Friday of every

month from 9:15 am—3:00 pm. Please join us.

Healing Prayer— February 18 After the 8:00 am Mass This is a different ministry from our annual Anointing of the Sick. This Healing Prayer would be for any type of challenge you or a loved one might be experiencing. Although the reasons are as numerous as the stars in heaven, here are a few examples: struggling with a seasonal disorder depression, an ongoing physical illness or disability, an emotional form of bondage, such as anger, depression, grief, etc., an addiction that you desire to cease, but struggle to do so alone, a loneliness that has affected your peace, or feeling that your parental or spousal skills are lacking, a desire to be a better person. Anyone may attend and be in proxy (intercessor) for a one who could use prayers. It is written that prayer is one of the most powerful tools that one has to complete their mission on earth.
