St. Jude Parish a Stewardship Community

PASTOR’S POTPOUIRRI – TEMPTATION The story of Jesus’ temptation in the desert is put before us at the beginning of Lent to encourage us to follow Je-sus’ example , to set aside time for prayer and self-sacrifice so we can have the strength to overcome the temptations that come to all of us. In addition, we are also called to alms-giving in these 40 days of Lent. All three of these aspects of our Christian lives are important…especially when we think of all the ways that our alms can help other people….especially if our alms come from those areas of our lives that we fast from in spending money. Let us thank the Lord for this Lenten time and renew our lives of following Jesus. —Fr. Bob —Fr. Bob

Food assistance for Easter may be requested by our parish members who need it and those living in zip codes 80226, 80227, 80228, and 80232. Call the Parish Office 303 988-6435 Mondays through Thursdays during normal office hours except for the noon hour.

delicious desserts by scratch and to Shelley and Greg Spawn for teaching people how to swing dance. Thank you Br. Jude for being

my Celebrity Judge for the cook-off and of course to all the parishioners who entered their chili. Everyone of them tasted great!

St. Jude’s RCIA program is a year round program. This model of formation provides a form of learn-ing, centered on the relationship of the individual with the person of Jesus Christ and with his body, the Church. It centers catechesis in the primary place where that relation-ship is fostered and celebrated, in

the community of faith that gathers Sunday by Sunday throughout the year. “Within the cycle of the year the Church unfolds the whole mystery of Christ, from his incar-nation and birth until his ascension, the day of Pentecost and the expectation of blessed hope and of the Lord’s re-turn” This model also respects the journey of each per-son. It assumes that those who come seeking initiation will be welcomed whenever they arrive, no matter what time of the year that happens to be.

In this model of sacramental catechesis, the Church uses the language of journey, conversion, discipleship and relationship. Rather than a program of specific instruction, the RCIA suggests a fluid, gradual process of formation, the heart of which is the paschal mystery of Jesus Christ.
