First Time Plugin Installation (to use the interactive 3D slides)
Identify and click on the gene of interest in thehistone tail resource. This will take you to theinteractive 3D slides of the structures.
You will reach a page which looks like this:
You’ll need to installthe activeICM pluginin order to see the3D interactivewindow – pleaseclick on the link fromthe right window.

Windows (XP, Vista, Windows 7) Download and run the latest installer and follow the
installation instructions
Close all web browser windows and restart web browser
Supported web browsers: Firefox, IE, Opera or Chrome
Mac OS X Download the latest version
Firefox: select ‘open with DiskImageMounter’; a newwindow will open – click on the icon to launch theinstaller and follow the instructions
Safari: the installer will be launched automatically
Close all web browser windows and restart web browser
Supported web browsers: Safari 32bit, Firefox
Linux Download the latest version
tar xzf activeicm-{version}.tgz (to unpackthe archive)
cd activeicmplugin
sh activeicm-plugin-installer (runs theinstaller; follow the installation instructions)
Close all web browser windows and restart web browser

Once the scene is shown, youcan interact directly with the 3Dwindow to better examine thefeature being presented.
The navigation is not sequential:you can choose to see any scene,anytime, in any order.
The font size of the text can bechanged by using Ctrl+ and Ctrl-
At any point you can reset thescene to the initial state usingthe ‘reset’ link in the text.
The left window containsthe main text describing the3D structures and providingthe analysis.

There are two main windows in every iSee session – one with text and static images (left) and another which allows interactionwith 3D objects (right). The features and behaviours for each window are described below. Support: [email protected]
Everything displayed in this windowcan be manipulated using the mouse
The 3D window has several ‘hot-zones’ (marked as red boxes in thefigure), which provides access tooperations that change the scene’sview
Move the cursor into one of thesezones to change the draggingfunction of your mouse (see below)
Arrows at the bottom changes theslides
Molsoft logo gives access to extrafunctions
All the functions described below assumes clicking +holding on the button indicated (i.e. dragging):
Left button
move = translation
Middle button
move = selection(markers appear);select empty zonesto remove selection
Right button
move = rotation
up/down = zoom in/out
up/down = zoom in/out
up/down = clip back plane
up/down = clip front plane
up/down = clip back+front planes
