The Staff of this church will again participate in a discipline that is called "One Word". It can be any word, it is your word, others can have the same word or a different word. You get to pick your word, and you keep your word for a year. This is a word that will guide you, motivate you, challenge you, comfort you, and even disturb you. It is your word and you pick it be- cause nobody else knows you like you do. We invite you to try this with us and see how God choices to use your word in your life. My word for 2017 is BEST. Now before you think that is egotistical, let me assure you that my reason for using that word for 2017 is not that I think that I can be the best preacher in the Methodism, in Tennessee, in the conference, or even in Manchester. My best is not a comparison to another person, my best is in accordance with how God has gifted me. There are times when we simply do enough to get by, and we don't give it our best, that does not honor God. My best is different from your best, and your best is different from mine. If and when I give it my best no matter how good or how lacking, then I have done all I can do. That is my BEST, and that is all that God expects from me. Years ago I heard Coach Herman Boone speak. Coach Boone was the person that Denzel Washington played in "Remember The Titans" Coach Boone throughout his presentation would throw in this phrase, "Good, better, best. Don't ever rest, until your good gets better, and your better gets best." That phrase has stayed with me for over a dozen years now and it is the reason that I have chosen the word best for this year. The Army use to have a recruit- ment slogan, "Be the best you can be." Best, will I give my best to all that I have been called to do? I hope that you will pray about and discover your one word for the year. Last year my word was focus, others use words like equip, present, appreciation, possibility, or health are just to list a few. I really hope you will try this and stay with it for a full year. Pray for your church staff as we begin a new year of ministry together. See you Sunday in the Father's House, BROTHER RANDY P.S. But there is something just a little sad for me when all the decorations come down, are boxed up and stored safely until next Christmas! And then there’s that tree. All the decorations and ornaments are off and it’s time to carry out the tree to its proper storage for the next 11 months! Sigh. In my mind I’m thinking “I guess Christmas is over!” I call it my “Charlie Brown moment!” But hold on a second! This is the world that Jesus came into! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! We are headed full steam ahead in to the new year. If your youth is wanting to go to Warmth in Winter which is January 27-29 at Opryland hotel in Nashville then I need to know ASAP. The cost of this trip is $140. We will leave on Friday afternoon and return on Sunday by 130 p.m. We are on our regular schedule as far as meeting on both Sunday and Wednesday nights from 5:30-7:30. The month of January our focus will be on setting goals for ourselves and our group. We will also be figuring our "what is our why?" meaning why do we do what we do in all aspects of our lives not just in our daily walk with the Lord. We are working to compile a list of the students that will be graduating from high school in May. Please call the church office and give these names to Randa, so that we can get informa-tion sheets sent out. As always, thank you for allowing us to walk along side you on this part of your teenagers journey. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to let me know. In the grip of HIS grace, Randa
