Lord, help me to live this day, quietly, easily. To lean upon thy great strength, trustfully, restfully.

To wait for the unfolding of thy will, patiently, serenely.

To meet others, peacefully, joyfully. To face tomorrow, confidently, courageously.

Home Love Feast

Today, in place of communion, we will be sharing a love feast during the 8:30 a.m. worship, and we encourage you to do the same at home. If you are alone, call someone and do it together on the phone!

Here’s an outline of how you can do a Love Feast. You don’t need any special tools to do this, just something to eat and drink is all that is required.

1. Pray 2. Sing (or read) “Be Present at our Table,

Lord” 3. Each person shares a joy, a concern, a

prayer, a God-moment, or a song if they wish. Then eat your food.

4. Sing or say “Amazing Grace,” then have your drink (water is sufficient)

The goal of a love feast is to encourage and support each other and connect with God. I pray we can resume offering communion in July!

Special Volunteers Needed

Calling all members and guests from 12-64 years of age: We will need a small army of cleaners on Sunday mornings for some time to come. If you are willing to serve and protect others, we can use you — contact the church office or Bruce Fleenor for more information.

Notes from the Food Pantry

May saw another successful food pantry, serving 38 households, made up of 123 individuals. Of those individuals, 39 were children, 26 were seniors, and 58 were adults. Nine households were first-time participants.

Each time, the food pantry tries to include something special, something a little different from the usual products. For next month we are asking for donations of taco dinner kits and Spanish rice.

The food pantry is extremely grateful for the generosity everyone has shown with their donations. Your continued donations means that the grant the church received from Food Lion will go even further!

Fifty Plus Trip Cancelled

Sadly, because of the coronavirus, the Fifty Plus trip has been cancelled as the Williamsburg Players' performances of Sister Act have been officially cancelled.

Be watching the bulletin and the Anchor newsletter for information about our 2020-21 season planning meeting sometime in late July or early August, assuming . . .

Return to Sunday School

We are working towards adults resuming Sunday school this coming Sunday (June 14). If we are able to do so, we will send information with links through email. Here’s a summary: 1. At first, we will be limited as to the number of people who can attend, so sign up for your

class by each Wednesday. We will send you a link to sign up in an upcoming email. If you have problems signing up online, contact the church office to reserve a spot for you.

2. Fill out the Health Acknowledgement form available on the VAUMC website (we will send a link for this in an upcoming email, also). Pastor Brian will receive all forms, and you don’t have to sign it! If you have problems accessing the form or filling it out, let the office know, and we will assist you.

3. When you arrive (times and location of classes will be provided), remember to bring your mask. If you forget or don’t have one, we can supply you with one. Remember, the mask is for the safety of others more than yourself.

Thank you! We apologize for this somewhat complicated process, but it is what we are required to do, and it is intended for your health. Once we are in Phase 3, we will be able to open for both Sunday School and worship. If you have questions, please contact the office or Pastor Brian. We want to see you, if you are ready to be seen!

You’re Invited!

Please join Laura Scott and her family as they celebrate Mykela’s graduation from Coyote Mountain Ridge Academy with a Drive-In Celebration at 4 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at First UMC Fox Hill. Mykela will be attending Sweet Briar College with a double major in English/Creative Writing and Studio Art. As with everything that takes place during COVID-19, there are guidelines that will need to be followed during this celebration. They include: 1. No one will be allowed to exit their vehicle. However you may roll down your windows. 2. All parked vehicles will be separated by an empty parking spot between each car and each spot will be clearly marked. 3. Gabriel and Xavier Scott will be parking lot attendants and will be wearing masks and gloves. 4. To reduce physical contact, a drop box for cards will be provided upon entry into the parking lot. 5. Duration of event will not exceed 45 minutes, to eliminate the need to use the restroom, as the church building will not be available. 6. Mykela will wear her cap, gown, a mask, and gloves. She will walk a narrow path via a

designated area in the center of the driveway and wave to her church family, family members, and friends parked on either side.

7. Please RSVP to Laura Scott by Saturday, June 13, to help facilitate how many parking

spots to prepare. This event will take place rain or shine. 10. We ask that those who are sick or have a fever not attend for everyone’s safety.

Thank you! We can’t wait to see you on Saturday, June 20, at 4 p.m.! The Scott Family
