What do we mean by fitness?

• Aristotle about 2,500 years ago. Quite simply said “something that is well suited to its purpose is fit.”

• However, there is an "appealing" match or sense of "fit"-ness when we look at activities that our lifestyle demands and being able to do them. There is a correlation between them.

Method• 1 Gently pinch your partner’s skin between your• thumb and finger in the position shown.• 2 Place the callipers around the skinfold at a depth of• about 1cm and measure the thickness in millimetres.• 3 Repeat the measurement twice more, leaving 15• seconds between each reading. Calculate the mean• (average) thickness by adding the three numbers• together and dividing the answer by 3.

• Draw diagrams of i) a healthy cilia ii) unhealthy cilia. Explaining the difference.
