BEHAVIOR ANALYST GRADUATE CERTIFICATE
Become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) through Fitchburg State’s Behavior Analyst graduate certificate program.
Our Behavior Analyst graduate certificate program has been approved by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc. as meeting coursework eligibility requirements for the Behavior Analysis Certification exam. Our carefully planned course sequence prepares individuals to work with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other disabilities through the understanding of behavioral analysis and other factors that often contribute to student success.

MS IN COUNSELINGSCHOOL GUIDANCE COUNSELING
PRE-K–8 AND/OR 5–12 (INITIAL LICENSURE)
Become a school guidance counselor!
Fitchburg State’s Master of Science in Counseling – School Guidance Counseling program is designed to prepare highly skilled professional school guidance counselors to work with all students and the entire school community including culturally diverse populations and students with serious emotional, cognitive, and behavioral disorders.
Our NCATE accredited program prepares graduates with the credentials to apply for initial licensure as an elementary school (Pre-K-8) and/or secondary school (5-12) guidance counselor. Students also have the opportunity to seek dual licensure (Pre-K-12) with additional coursework.
Our program offers a schedule convenient for you:• Begin studies in spring, summer, or fall• Coursework is offered late afternoons, evenings and Saturdays• 6 years to complete your degree requirements
School Guidance Counselor coursework prepares students to:• Create comprehensive and developmental school guidance counseling programs• Provide services that support all students with their academic, personal/social and
career development• Provide diagnosis and consultation as integral members of school teams that promote
academic achievement, strive to close achievement gaps, and help their students to graduate career and college ready

MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING
Become qualified for individual, family, child and group mental health counseling
Mental health counseling involves the application of the principles of psychotherapy, human development, learning theory, group dynamics, psychopathology, and intervention/treatment planning. This three-year program prepares professionals for counseling positions in a wide variety of settings such as community mental health centers and residential treatment facilities. The applications are relevant to individuals, couples, children, families and groups for the purposes of treating psychopathology and promoting optimal mental health.
The Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling degree offers rolling admissions, allowing students to begin studies in spring, summer, or fall. A minimum of 60 semester hours is required including 12 semester hours of internship.
The program may be completed in as little as three years:• Two complete years (including fall, spring, and summer
semesters) of academic studies• One year to complete a 600-hour mandated internship.
Internship hours begin in the fall semester and end at the conclusion of the University’s spring semester in May (approximately 42 weeks)
Program graduates have the opportunity to apply for licensure in mental health counseling (LMHC).

CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL STUDIESThe Center for Professional Studies (CPS) at Fitchburg State University offers professional development for working professionals collaborating with school districts, businesses and other professional organizations to design and deliver accredited courses and/or programs to meet the needs of the area workforce.
The CPS can work with your organization to deliver on-site professional development or create a program on campus at the university to meet your needs. Courses and programs can be offered for academic credit or non-credit. The CPS is also an approved official state provider of programs for professional development points (PDPs), for our local educators.
In addition to designing individual courses, the CPS offers several annual programs that have earned a reputation for quality and excellence.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT SUMMER INSTITUTE Summer 2014
The AP Teacher Training Institutes are designed to support all aspects of AP courses, including AP methodology, curriculum, class assignments and examinations as well as providing strategies for teaching advanced placement courses. This week-long institute is ideal for new AP teachers or those that need updated training with the latest AP exams.

NEXT GENERATION LEADERSHIP SUMMIT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSIONALS Summer 2014
This week-long institute will introduce law enforcement professionals to new skills and tools leading to new perspectives on leadership in your profession. The institute includes six seminars on topics such as: effective communication, managing workplace conflict, building relationships, bridging the cultural gap, developing leadership skills, and emergency preparedness. The Next Generation Leadership Summit is co-sponsored by Fitchburg State University, Crocker Center for Civic Engagement and the Fitchburg and Harvard Police Departments.
AVID MEDIA COMPOSER USER CERTIFICATION WORKSHOPSummer 2014
This summer Fitchburg State presents an intensive, one-week institute for producers, editors, assistant editors, and multimedia producers. This program includes two courses, Media Composer Editing Essentials and Media Composer Effects Essentials, and prepares students to take the Media Composer User Certification Exam (exam, books and materials included in tuition). On-campus housing is available. Seating is limited.
