FIU 19E – Indoor units for varying needs

FIU 19E is available as four different variants• T55340.01 FIU19E with 2 active FB interfaces and SNMP• T55340.02 FIU19E with 1 active FB interface and SNMP• T55340.03 FIU19E with 2 active FB interfaces, no SNMP• T55340.04 FIU19E with 1 active FB interface, no SNMP• HW of the variants is the same, 2nd FB and SNMP can be upgraded later with SW

licenses

FIU 19E can be upgraded with the following SW licenses• L55341.02 FIU19E SNMP license enabling IP DCN and OSPF

– Available for T55340.03 and T55340.04

• L55341.03 FIU19E license for 2nd FB interface for chain and OU protected sites– Available for T55340.02 and T55340.04

• T55340.01 already offers 2nd FB and SNMP readily activated – no separate licenses needed

FIU 19E features•Support for TDM and Ethernet traffic transmission•Flexible capacity management – transmission capacity via the flexbus interfaces is independent of the number of equipped add/drop physical E1 interfaces.•Integrated cross-connections between physical E1 interfaces and up to three flexbus directions.•Support for multiple protection methods (HSB, diversities)•4x2M plug-in units for 75ohm and 120ohm•Ethernet plug-in unit with L2 Switch (with QoS from SW rel C3.2 onwards)•Flexbus plug-in unit – for 3rd and 4th FB interface (local interconnection or OU connection)•AUX plug-in unit e.g. for external alarms or user data•DCN capacity 64 – 512 kb (2x2 – 16x2)•Configuration, Fault and Performance Management via Q1 and SNMP

– currently NetAct not supporting FIU19E PM via IP DCN but only via Q1•Enhanced Configuration back-up Compatibility•IP based Engineering Order Wire•Factory default settings

Note that even FIU 19E supports these features a separate Plug-in Unit or a license might be needed for taking the feature into use.

FIU 19E Ethernet & TDM

TDM cross-connections between up to three radio directions and physical E1 interfaces

Ethernet plug-in unit (EPIU): Two Ethernet ports towards radio directions and two local FE interfaces

Arbitrary capacity mix between Ethernet and TDM traffic with 2Mbps granularity towards flexbus interfaces

Ethernet capacity over the radio hop up to 32Mbps per Flexbus (max if no TDM used)

Ethernet and TDM traffic types are handled separatelyRadio capacity not allocated for Ethernet can be used for TDM

SW release 3.2 for FIU19E

• Enables the use of Quality of Service (QoS) with Ethernet

• No HW changes for FIU 19E or Ethernet Plug-in Unit– SW Release 3.2 can be upgraded to all existing rel 2.0 and newer FIU 19Es

• Two operating modes with Ethernet Plug-in unit– Classic Mode (same functionality as today – no QoS)– QoS Mode (EPIU operates as a Full Switch with QoS)– Operating mode is selectable by the user

Existing FIU 19E & Ethernet Plug-in Unit (EPIU)• 3.2 SW Upgrade

• QoS License

Classic Mode – Sub operating modesEthernet Channel Separation (Available only in Classic Mode)• Two independent Ethernet data channels over two radio links

(Eth1 to SIO1 (in FB1), Eth2 to SIO2 (in FB2)• Both Ethernet interfaces passed to own radio outdoor unit• Ethernet data channels are configured independently

Ethernet Capacity Sharing (Available only in Classic Mode)• Two individual Ethernet data channels over one radio link (Eth1

and Eth2 to SIO1 (in FB1) or SIO2 (in FB2)• Flexible sharing of radio path capacity between two Ethernet

data channels

Ethernet Full Switch (Available in Classic and QoS Modes)• EPIU operates as a four port L2 Ethernet Switch (The ports

being Eth1, Eth2, SIO1 (in FB1) and SIO2 (in FB2)• Traffic from any input ports can be forwarded to any output port• Ethernet interface unit learns up to 2048 MAC addresses• Packet forwarding based on MAC addresses

QoS mode - Features• VLAN aware switching (802.1Q)

– Configurable VLAN membership/port (64 different VLAN IDs per unit)

• VLAN P-bits based prioritization (802.1p)

• 4 queues/radio direction

• Scheduling choices1. Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ) with

weights fixed to 8, 4, 2, 12. Strict Priority

• In QoS Mode the EPIU operates always as a full switch

• 256kB memory dynamically allocated between the buffer
