  • MSC Seaside| Impanema Restaurant

Located on Deck 6, Impanema is one of two main restaurants that offer Mediterranean Cuisine to a large amount of passengers.

Design IssuesThe restaurant does not fit into the ship’s desired aesthetic. Impanema does not represent Miami, as it is a beach located in Brazil.

The main design element is extremely linear and is repeated on every surface. There are lines on the ceil-ing, the walls, and the floor, creating a fractured and anxious dining experience.

  • Proposal | Oceantide Restaurant “Moon over Miami, shine on my love and me, So we can stroll beside the roll of the rolling sea.” -Ray Charles Moon Over Miami is a

soft, romantic song that is similar toImpanema.

The moon controls the tides, so for the redesign I thought about creating a starry night atmosphere for diners.

A fibre optic ceiling can be used to emulate stars, and the linear elements of Impanema have been converted into more curvy ones to represent the gentle tides.

Oceantide also relates to Seashore, the sister main restaurant.
