Esthetician/Cosmetologist
Also known as skin care specialist, esthetician helps people look their best.
Esthetician/CosmetologistPredispositionLicense is required, as
estheticians perform all non-medical skin procedures.
StudiesIn Higher Education
Technological Institutes (TEI), section of Health and Welfare. Both General and Vocational upper secondary school graduates could be admitted by national level exams.
Studies last for 4 years, including 6 months of practice.
Esthetician/CosmetologistA different diploma, as
“assistant esthetician” permitting limited skin procedures, is released from Technical Schools (EPAS) and Vocational Training Institutes (IEK), public or private. Studies last for 2 years. For the IEK students, a written test is typically employed before acquiring license.
Esthetician/CosmetologistSkills/qualificationsAn esthetician needs
physical stamina, good health and grooming, disciplined work habits, artistic flair and well-developed interpersonal skills.
Esthetician/CosmetologistJob opportunities/earningsEstheticians deal with keeping
clients’ skin healthy. Skin treatment options include massages and facials as well. Estheticians are required to beauty centres to perform face and/or body treatments. Many of them often work in sales of beauty care products or in SPA therapy centres.

When they work as employees, they earn 700 to 1000 euro per month. Those who run their own shops earn much more, as they are involved in all phases of business management and marketing
HairdresserPredispositionLicense is required. StudiesIn Technical Schools
(EPAS), public or private. Studies last for 2 years. Young hairdressers, after their diploma need 12 months of training in a hairdresser’s shop and then they could obtain their license by a written license test.

techniques and methods-awareness of health and
safety issues

opportunities/earningsHairdressers could work in
salons. With experience they could progress to jobs as senior stylist or salon manager.
There are also job opportunities in a number of other places, such as hotels, hospitals, care homes or cruise liners. Alternatively they can offer a mobile hairdressing service, visiting customers in their homes, or set up their own salon.
HairdresserWhen hairdressers are
employees, they usually earn the National Minimum Wage (700 euro per month, plus their tips).
Earnings are better for those who offer mobile service, but they do not have any health insurance or pension plan. The salon owners have the best income, but it always depends on the size and the position of the shop.
EcologistEcologist jobs may
focus on broad segments of the environment such as marine life or atmospheric pollution, but they may also be highly specialized in a variety of fields.
EcologistStudiesMost ecologist jobs
require at least a University degree in Natural Sciences field. Studies last for 4 years. Higher levels of education such as Master’s or Doctorate degrees are usually in demand for senior level positions, meaning other 2 or 3 years of studies.

opportunities/earningsEcologists could work for
National/State agencies, which deal with water supplies or atmospherical pollution. Their earnings depend on their degree level and their position. In any case they earn not more that 1.500 euro/month (senior level position).
EcologistThey also have the
opportunity to set up their own consultancies, working on their own or with other ecologists offering a broader-based consultancy. In this case earnings are much better, but the hard competition throughout the sector keeps them lower than expected.
Police OfficerPolice officers
protect the lives and property of the citizens. They maintain order, catch lawbreakers and work to prevent crime.
Police OfficerStudies/trainingIn Police Academy.
Admitted men and women upper secondary school graduates (General or Vocational lyceum) by national level exams.
Studies last 2, 5 years for the lower level officers and 4 years for the upper one.

requirements: Age under 26, high minimum
1, 70 m, their B.M.I. (Body Mass Index) no more than 25, their eyesight and hearing at 100%.
-Before the national level exams they have to go through a rigorous physical examination and psychometric tests.
-Nobody is admitted, if he has been sentenced in the past for any criminal act.
Police OfficerSkills/qualificationsThe job could be
dangerous and stressful. Police officers often deal with violent criminals and may be injured or killed. Quick decision must be made by police officers on duty. They also have to be tactful and patient with people who are in trouble or have been victims.
Police OfficerPolice service is
provided for 24 hours a day, so officers may work outdoors in all kinds of weather. Work shifts are usually rotated. However officers are on call at all times for emergencies. Overtime is often required…

opportunities/earningsPolice officers are paid since
the first day of their studies. Their wages are low (almost 1.000 euro per month), considering the high risk of their job. The upper level officers are better paid. Promotion is possible. Good work records and special honors help in that direction.
PsychologistPsychologists work in
health and social care settings. They use the methods of psychology and psychological theories with clients to enable them to make positive changes in their lives. People of all ages experience problems which may include:

illness, Addictive behaviours, Eating disorders, Behaviour disorders, Personal and family
relationship problems, Learning disabilities.

registration are needed.
PsychologistStudiesUniversity degree in
Psychology, or in Greek literature and philosophy, in Psychology section. Studies last for 4 years and students are admitted by national level exams. Master’s or Doctorate degrees make easier a psychologist career, as they provide specialization in various fields (e.g. educational psychology, counseling psychology, health psychology etc)

postgraduate courses is hard, so the majority of our students go abroad for Master and Doctorate degrees.
PsychologistSkills/qualificationsA psychologist needs:Respect for confidentiality,
excellent communication and listening skills, an interest in how people react and interact, a desire to help other people, the ability to work as part of a team and the ability to maintain a professional distance.

opportunities/earningsPsychologists find most
opportunities with local authority education or social services departments. They can also work in Prison services and Police departments or in the private sector. If they work as public employees, they earn approximately 1.300 euro per month -for Doctorate degree owners, less if they have only a Bachelor degree.

those who run their own studio, but it takes time and patience to be achieved..
TeacherThe teacher is
responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and psychological growth.

Public school teachers are required to pass a national level competition, which takes place every 2 years. Vocational school teachers as doctors, engineers, economists etc are required to attend a special course of pedagogic which lasts for 1 year.

written communication skills. work as part of a team, accept responsibility and be self-motivated and also demonstrate strong work ethic to achieve educational goals.

In Greece teachers can work in public or private schools with the same salary. Teachers have to be in class for 22 to 16 hours per week, depending on their teaching experience. After minimum 10 years of teaching they could eventually become head teachers
TeacherThe teacher’s salary for the first
year amounts at 1000 euro per month. After 34 years of experience it amounts at 1600 euro per month.
For Master or Doctorate degree teachers, an amount of 40 or 60 euro per month is added to their salary. Teachers have 12 weeks of vacations, as schools are closed for 2 weeks for Christmas and Easter holidays and for 8 weeks for summer holidays (July and August).
