Shocking real-life stories p6

“I’m HIV Positive.”

I found out I had HIV on my brother’s birthday. It was a hard, emotional time in my life, and it took me by shock. I was born extremely premature as a baby, and I spent the whole of my childhood in and out of hospital. Having treatments for weak bones and scolio-sis. By the age of 9, as a result of a severe reaction to my medication, I was told that my liver was failing. My whole family took it as such a shock, especially my mum, who was ex-pecting my brother, Jamie.

The doctor put me on the list of donors, and I was sent away. When I was 13, I was eventually told that they had found a liver for me. I was so happy, it was amazing. I honestly believed that I could be normal

for once in my life! My family threw a party, and I invited all of my friends from the clinic. It was a blast! To be honest, it was the hap-piest I had seen my parents

in years!

Two days Before the operation, I was admitted into hospital. The nurses that worked there were so nice! They told me stories of

HIV at the age of 13

their families and their work, and I always wondered what I would be do-ing when I was there age, and who I would be married to. I couldn’t wait to grow up and have a family. The surgery was a complete success, and I was discharged from the hospi-tal as soon as pos-sible. I had never felt so alive! I could fi-nally run, and jump and play like a normal teenager! It wasn’t long, how- ever, until I started to feel down again, and was re-admitted into hospital. This time the doctor came in with a sad, sad face. He sat beside my bed, removed his glasses, looked me in the eye, and said, “ There has been a huge mistake.” Initially, mine, and my whole family’s thoughts were that I was going to die. The doctor continued, “ You have contracted HIV.” At the time, I didn’t even think that I had the strength to feel an emotion. I was so weak, I couldn’t even cry. It was when I was asleep, however that it sunk in. The fact that I would never be able to start my own family, like the nurses who worked in my ward. I suffered from de-pression for a very long time. Of course, if you were in my position, you do not have much will to live. After many suicide attempts, and self harm issues, I

eventually came out as a stronger person. Day by day, I have learnt how to cope with the world around me, and how to accept myself, for who I am. The happiest day I have had between now and when I was diagnosed was when I was 16, and I went for my daily check up, at the clinic. I was on the bus, and I sat next to a man. He was a stranger to me, but little did I know was that he was to be my future husband! It turned out that he also had HIV, and we were both on our way to the clinic. We conversed on our journey, and got to know each other very well. His name is David, he was 18 and he had been born with HIV. He helped me grow strong as a person, and I love him so much. We married each other last April, and we have stayed together since. Al-though we will never have children, it is amazing knowing that you have someone to love, and to wake up to every morning. If I have any advice for anyone, it would be to appreciate what you have, because no matter what or who you are, there will always be someone who is in a worse situation than your-

self. HIV may change your life-style, but it doesn’t change who you are.

“You’ve contracted HIV...”

“HIV may change your lifestyle, but not who you are..”

Fashion Faux Pas

Chelsy Hell-see Chelsy Davy also stepped

out in a turquoise mon-

strosity, though not as

bad as Sam Cam’s. She did

accessorize well with

nude clutch and shoes,

but the off the shoulder

ruched jacket…let’s not

comment.

Sam Jam Samantha Cameron stepped out of her sleek black car to cries of dismay! The prime minister’s wife did herself no favours in this turquoise body con. She accessorized with clashing bright orange cardigan (no suit jacket or hat!) and blingy necklace! That outfit would be better suited under the car.

V. The Royals

The Wedding

Duchess of Dreadful Camilla Duchess of Cornwall had two pretty

colours to work with the style that let her

down. The embroidery around her hips high-

lighted this as the widest part of her. The pleats

made her look like a wannabe schoolgirl, which

is a bit inappropriate on a grandmother.

Bold and Bolder Beatrice and Eugenie Mountbatten-Windsor shocked

billions as they arrived in contrasting bright blue and

nude. One similarity, the hats: tall and ridiculous!
