During normal winter conditions, County gravel roads should be cleared of snow within four days, unless there is heavy snow and persistent winds. Two plow trucks are designated to remove snow and apply sand/salt to oil and paved surface roads. Two graders are allocated for snow and ice removal on MG30 roads. Back roads or blind roads will not be plowed unless deemed necessary by Public Works. Road Closures/Bridge Maintenance: The following bridge is closed in order to conduct routine maintenance: SW 06-44-10 W4 – Township Road 440, between Range Road 105 and 110 (East of Lougheed). This road will be open to local traffic only during bridge maintenance. This bridge will be closed until further notice. For further information, please contact the County office at (780)384-4100. Council meeting of January 10, 2018 Council Highlights briefly identify decisions made by Council. Council encourages its residents, businesses and stakeholders to keep in touch with Council news. Utilities Bylaw—Rates Schedule F of Bylaw 03/16, which regulates and provides for the terms, conditions, rates and charges for the supply and use of water services, sewer services, gas services and solid waste services provided by Flagstaff County, was revised to show an overall average increase of $11.00 per month to hamlet residents.

Galahad Natural Gas System Council accepted the offer from Phoenix Gas Co-op to take over the Galahad system as per the following: • Phoenix Gas would assume the natural gas system which would release Flagstaff County of any future

legal and financial liabilities and ensure no future costs to the County • based on the current liabilities of the system no monetary value is offered • verification, evaluation and assessment of the condition of the CL219 pipe and the plan for replacement

as determined by this assessment, will be completed within five (5) to ten (10) years from the date of handover.

Hamlet of Strome—Standby Pump & Generator Flagstaff County will tender for the purchase and installation of a vertical turbine pump, pressure relief valve and bypass piping and a generator with PLC upgrades to power the Hamlet of Strome pump house; which is to be funded through the Municipal Sustainability Initiative Grant. Daysland School Playground Council approved to send a letter of support to the Society of the Friends of Daysland School Council for the application of a Community Facility Enhancement Program grant for the Daysland School Playground project. ALUS Partnership Advisory Committee Garret Jackson and Bryan Zwack were appointed as representatives of the ALUS Partnership Advisory Committee for the 2017/2018 term. 2019 Timeline—Business Plan and Budget Council approved the 2019 Business Plan and Budget timeline with the following addition: • February 2018 - Strategic Planning Lougheed Seed Cleaning Plant Council decided that prior to considering Lougheed Seed Cleaning Plant's request, administration is to develop a policy that will allow New Generation Cooperatives within Flagstaff County the ability to access debt financing via the Alberta Capital Finance Authority for the purpose of producing, processing or marketing agricultural products or providing services to agricultural producers. The policy must take into consideration conditions that will minimize any financial risk to Flagstaff County. Subdivision 17-Q-761, NW-35-41-12-W4 Subdivision 17-Q-761, located at NW-35-41-12-W4 was approved subject to conditions.
