1. Gear is down
2. Landing flap is set
3. Track is aligned to the runway (within 12 degrees, or 30 degrees if offset
approach)
4. Airspeed:
Airspeed minus selected approach speed within -5 to +15 knots (for 3 secs)
OR Vapp within -5 to +10 knots (for 3 secs)
OR Vref within -5 to +35 knots (for 3 secs)
5. Glideslope deviation within 1 dot
6. Localiser deviation within 1 dot
7. Vertical velocity between -1100 and -200 fpm
8. Engine thrust greater than 40% N1 or 35% N1 (A319, B787) or 1.09 EPR (for 10 secs)
or 1.02 EPR (A319, A320, A321)
9. If all the above conditions are met, the approach is “Stable”

marked as “offset” in the Airport Database)
If yes move to step 4
4- Is airspeed stable?
(Only assessed down to 50ft RA, the condition at 50ft RA
is assumed to continue to landing)

seconds
-OR Airspeed minus VApp (-5kts to +10kts) for 3 seconds
-OR Airspeed minus Vref (-5kts to +35kts) for 3 seconds
-OR Airspeed minus VLS (-5kts to +35kts) for 3 seconds
If yes move to step 5
5- Is the aircraft within 1 dot of the glideslope?
(Only assessed down to 200ft AAL, the condition at 200ft
AAL is assumed to continue to landing)
If yes move to step 6
6- Is the aircraft within 1 dot of the localiser?
(Only assessed down to 200ft AAL, the condition at 200ft
AAL is assumed to continue to landing)
If yes move to step 7
7-Is the vertical velocity stable?
(Between -200fpm and -1100fpm) (Only assessed down to
50ft RA, the condition at 50ft RA is assumed to continue to
landing)
If yes move to step 8
8- Is the engine thrust stable?
(Only assessed down to 50ft RA, the condition at 50ft RA
is assumed to continue to landing)
IF engine records EPR:
IF in aircraft family A319, A320, A321 EPR is stable above
1.02
ELSE EPR is stable above 1.09
(if no EPR) ELSE
IF in aircraft family A319, B787 N1 is stable above 35%
ELSE N1 is stable above 40%
If yes, move to step 9
9- Are all criteria met?
If "Yes" define approach as "STABLE"
