“The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary”

C o u r s e M a n a g e r :S t e v e R e h

I am currently the Course Manager and Senior Grade One Instructor here at Altocap Flight School. I have been involved with Altocap since its beginnings and have been involved in General Aviation for over 30 years.I have worked as a Char ter Pilot, CFI, and Casa Testing Officer/ Flight Examiner and have been involved in Flight Instruction for over 12 years. My main niche and for te is Flight Instructor Training and I hold the enviable position of having trained over 300 successful Flight Instructor graduates, most of whom have obtained positions in the industry as Flight Instructors with several advancing to Airline Pilot Operations. What do I look for in a Flight Instructor Trainee:• Candidates should possess accurate flying ability and be well presented.• They should possess a high degree of safety awareness and sound airmanship skills .• Candidates should conduct themselves professionally at all times, be dedicated, self motivated,

have a high degree of self confidence and excellent communicating skills . Also willingness to pitch in and help at all times is needed.

• They must be punctual, cour teous to their fellow workers and customers, and possess good customer service skills .

• Candidates need to have a high degree of aeronautical general knowledge. I consider a Flight Instructor candidate as and instructor in training. They need to act as if they have already achieved their goal. Attitude is everything.

A l t o c a p F l i g h t S c h o o lAfter an illustrious career in the Royal Flying Corp in WW1, the first Australian to hold a civil pilot licence, Oswald

Watt was instrumental in forming the aero club movement which, in turn, lead to the growth of civil aviation in

Australia.

We invite you to join us and be par t of a great flying tradition and future. We have a different feel to our business and we actually ask you to par ticipate, contribute and meet other pilots. At Altocap you will learn more about aviation than just manipulating an aeroplane, you actually learn about the industry and what motivates it and its ethics and standards. We believe our club offers a U N I Q U E I N S T R U C T O R C O U R S E and its high pass rate and wide industry acceptance of the instructors gives rise to considerable pride within our school.

Altocap Flight School began with a commitment to quality fl ight training and safety in an atmosphere of friendly comradeship. The directors and staff are all passionate about flying and their experience encompasses many years involvement with flying clubs and other aviation organisations.

Our school draws on a long and proud tradition of superior fl ight training created by the directors. We believe our instructor rating course sets a standard to which others aspire. It is not easy, far from it , for the bar is set high but the instructors who graduate are at the head of the queue for employment.

Our Mission & Vision

The airline manufacturers have forecast and are observing significant increases in sales, par ticularly in this region. Most observers say that the need for instructors will grow steeply especially as instructors from organisations such as ours are sought after by the airlines.

“Aspiring to be the best”

Page 9: Flight Instructor Course - Altocap Flight School

Why a Flight Instructor Rating? The Instructor Rating Course is a 12 week course (42 hours dual fl ight) designed to get students through their Flight Instructor Rating assessment with CASA, and prepare them for their career as an instructor. An instructor rating is one of the best ways to sharpen flying skills and enhance discipline, accuracy and proficiency. Additionally, completing an instructor rating increases the options that trainees have to get a job upon graduation. There are many instructing jobs offered around Australia each year.Flight Instructors are at the forefront of providing entry level for pilots at all levels and this is a real responsibility. Flight Instructors have a real input into Aviation Safety Practices and Airmanship.

Graduates of Altocap Flight School, Flight Instructor Rating have commenced work at many flying schools around the country, including, Sydney Aviators, University of NSW, Clamback & Hennesy, China Southern WAFC, AAPA (REX Academy), Gostner Aviation, Whitworth Aviation, Newcastle Aero Club, Morrabbin Flight Training Academy and many more throughout the country and overseas.
