  • Performance

    Recommended Installations

    The pilot controlled ERHARDFloat Valve is composed of mainvalve and pilot system. The mainvalve consists of: body, cover,plug with guide, diaphragm, andposition indicator.

    Upstream pressure acts on chamber A.Downstream pressure acts onchamber B.Control pressure acts onchamber C.

    The pilot system includes:Upstream pipe branch I, pilotpressure line II, 3/2-way pilotvalve III, counterweight IV, float V, two adjustable stops VIand VII, weight VIII, float cable IX, throttle valve andmanually operated valve.

    These Float Valves maintainadjustable minimum and maximum water levels in a reservoir.

    When the water level in thereservoir rises, the float guidedby the control cable slides up-wards to the upper stop. Thebuoyancy of the float lifts thecable with the weight and thecounterweight switches the 3/2-way valve. The upstream main isnow connected with the pilotpressure line. The upstream pres-sure in chamber C closes themain valve tightly.

    With a decrease of water level inthe reservoir, the float guided bythe float cable slides down-wards. The main valve remainsclosed until the float reaches thelower stop (minimum level). Theadditional float weight causesthe counterweight to rise and toswitch the 3/2-way valve. Now,chamber C is connected to theambient pressure via the pilotpressure line. This pressure relief

    causes the main valve to opencompletely.

    The main valve operates withinthe range of the stops as On-OffValve. Intermediate positions arenot possible. The difference bet-ween the top and bottom waterlevels is adjustable from 50 mmto 4000 mm with an accuracy of 20 mm.

    SizingThe valve is not sized to thepipeline diameter but in accor-dance with maximum flow con-ditions and installation situation.

    For an optimum sizing of thevalve, we recommend a flowvelocity of v = 2 - 2,5 m/s (see flow table).
