Facts about Floods

• Floods happen when the average amount of water in a place rises.

• If land is very absorbent it is less likely to flood over in that place.

What can Floods cause ????

• Floods can cause death, loss of land and also destroying schools hospitals and homes.

Floods are helpful too!!!!

• Floodwater can deposit minerals and other helpful nutrients to the soil around it.

Floods Happen Because ????

• Floods usually happen because of large amounts of rainfall.

• They can happen if the rain is not absorbed in the ground quick enough.

Flash Floods

• Because they are so sudden they are extremely deadly.

• If water is stored up behind a dam and it breaks that is one cause of a flash flood.

How to help after a flood

• After a flood the first thing that you need to do is provide help to those that need it.

• The next thing that needs to be done is to get everyone that needs medical help to the doctor.

• The last thing that needs to be done is to rebuild the neighborhoods.
