Design Options

InsulationPrice offers an extensive Terminal Unit Liner System to address the issue of terminal unit insulation fibers entering the air stream. Each liner system offers benefits that are designed to meet applications with various lining and insulation requirements.

FG – ¾" (19mm) FiberglassThis system integrates 1.5 lb. density fiberglass insulating material to provide lining and insulation characteristics. Fiberglass insulation meets NFPA 90A requirements and complies with the following industry standards and tests:

• ASTM C 1071

• UL 181 (Air Erosion)

• UL 181 (Mold Growth and Humidity)

• UL 723 (25/50) (Flame and Smoke)

• ASTM E 84 (25/50) (Flame and Smoke)

• ASTM C 665 (Fungi Resistance)

FF – ¾" (19mm) Fiber Free FoamThis system integrates an engineered foam which provides excellent insulating characteristics. The foam edges are self sealing due to the material’s composition.

The engineered foam meets requirement of NFPA 90A and complies with the following industry standards and tests:

• UL 181 (Air Erosion)

• UL 181 (Mold Growth & Humidity)

• UL 723 (25/50) (Flame & Smoke)

• ASTM E 84 (25/50) (Flame & Smoke)

• CAN/ULC-102.2-M88 (Flame and Smoke)

Fiber free foam insulation totally eliminates the risk of fiberglass particles entering the airstream while maintaining thermal resistance and acoustic absorption. An important advantage over other liner systems is that even scrapes or punctures will not expose fibers to the airstream. The foam also will not absorb water, reducing the likelihood of mold or bacterial growth. The acoustic absorption of the foam insulation is equivalent to aluminum foil faced insulation.

EBTRON - Airflow Probe Sensor

SensorsThe airflow sensor is a very important part of any terminal unit. It is essential for the airflow sensor to provide accurate airflow information to the terminal unit controller across the full operating range. The FCS has two great options:

SP300 Cross-Flow SensorTo compensate for variations in pressure within the inlet, the Price SP300 averages the high and low Velocity Pressures that are found on opposing sides of the duct. These measurements are collected and averaged in a chamber located at the center of the sensor. The signal is then sent to the air flow controller.

Multiple ports for sensing both total pressure (tp) and static pressure (sp) are designed and located to maximize accuracy. Extensive research and lab testing was conducted under various air flow conditions to determine the proper location of the multiple sensing ports. Each sensor section will have twelve total pressure ports located on the upstream side of the sensor legs. Four static pressure ports are located on the downstream side of each averaging chamber. The multiple sensing ports not only provide a good indication of velocity across the duct but prevent loss of signal due to blockage by dust or dirt.

EBTRON Airflow Probe Sensor (by other) Price can provide mounting holes for Ebtron Gold Series Sensors for field installation or factory installation when sent to the factory.

EBTRON’s Gold Series high performance thermal dispersion airflow measurement systems provide you with a reliable, accurate and repeatable HVAC measurements. This ATMD is ideal for continuous commissioning and other applications where high turndown with airflow accuracy of 3% of reading or better is required from 0 to 5,000 feet per minute and temperature accuracy of ± 0.15° from -20° to 160°F.

Silencers Price Absorptive Rectangular Silencers are designed to provide solutions to any and all HVAC noise control applications by providing several variations of internal geometries. Each silencer model has been developed to maximize insertion loss while minimizing system pressure drops. Our available standard sizes offer excellent flexibility to ductwork designs, and because we do not limit our cataloged silencer offering to certain sizes, we have the ability to build each silencer to suit the ductwork and, in turn, the application. Price absorptive rectangular silencers consist of a solid metal casing, minimum 26 gauge perforated metal liner, and acoustic fiberglass media. These silencers are available in various classifications to meet the specific requirements of each project.

Features • Optimized inlet radius to minimize turbulent flow and reduce pressure drops.

• Engineered internal geometries that maximize static regain.

Options • Fiberglass cloth (FC)

- A tightly woven cloth made of long strands of glass fiber that encapsulates the acoustic media.

- Provides an extra level of protection against erosion of acoustic media at high velocities.

- The cloth is acoustically transparent, which in results no change to insertion values.

• Polymer film liner, with stand-off (PL)

- Thin polymer film liner that encapsulates the acoustic media for added protection.

- Acoustic standoff that separates film liner from perforated metal to ensure the highest levels of insertion loss.

- The same engineered internal geometries that are used in the standard absorptive silencers to maximize insertion loss and pressure drop.

Baffle ConfigurationsRLSilencers

Price RL absorptive silencers are designed for low velocity applications. This low velocity configuration provides the highest insertion loss levels across the full range of frequencies.

With a constant gap and smooth aerodynamic surface throughout, these silencers are best suited for applications with velocities below 750 fpm, where high insertion loss is the priority.

RMSilencers

Price RM absorptive silencers are designed for medium velocity applications. This medium velocity configuration provides high levels of insertion loss across the full range of frequencies, and the sloped tail arrangement allows for static regain for improved pressure drop. This configuration is best suited for applications with velocities of 1750 fpm or less.

RHSilencers

Price RH absorptive silencers are designed for high velocity applications. This high velocity configuration minimizes the pressure drop that can occur at higher velocities, while still providing high levels of insertion loss across the full range of frequencies. The RH silencer is best suited for applications where high airvelocities cannot be avoided.

Control DampersControl dampers have been designed and tested to provide reliable, cost effective control, and can accomodate higher than the recommended 2.5 in. w.g. These control dampers provide an extremely tight seal utilizing pressure sensitive jamb seals and blade edge seals to provide the ultimate in sealing characteristics without unduly increasing torque requirements. The damper’s rigid frame and integrally braced corners provide true damper alignment ensuring on site performance equal to test results. Available in either parallel or opposed blade construction.

Standard constructionFrame: Roll-formed, galvanized steel hat-section with stalked corners and integral bracing

Blades: 16-18 ga. roll-formed, galvanized steel, triple-vee profile blades

Bearings: Bronze Oilite bearings, press fit into frame.

Axles: Square, plated steel axles.

Seals: Pressure sensitive PVC blade edge, and flexible metal jamb seals.

Linkages: 12 ga. thick galvanized steel linkage bars concealed in frame.

Water Coils• 22 ga. galvanized steel, mechanically sealed, leak resistant construction.

• Hot water coils have copper tubes and aluminum fins with O.D. sweat connections

• Refer to submitted terminal unit schedule for air volumes and reheat coil capacities.

• Method of venting reheat coil is to be provided by installing contractor.

• Had of water coil connections is determined when viewed from air inlet side with access door on bottom. Right hand coil connections shown.

• Allow 1 ½" (38) minimum clearance for installation at this end.

• Configuration of coil connection varies with size and circuitry of coil.

• Performance rated and certified in accordance with the current edition of AHRI standard 410.

• Standard coils supplied with 10 fins per inch.

• It is not recommended to reverse 3 and 4 row coils. Indicate handing while ordering.
