IN GOOD COMPANY ADMINISTRATORFixed term until August 2021; this post is funded by the European Regional Development Fund until September 2019
We’re pleased that you’re interested in our new vacancy – IN GOOD COMPANY ADMINISTRATOR – and have decided to find out more.
ABOUT IN GOOD COMPANY
In Good Company is the flagship professional creative and business development programme for theatre makers and companies in the Midlands.
"What marks out In Good Company is that Derby began by asking artists what it was they wanted and needed rather than simply telling them what they had planned for them, and the scheme continues to consult"
Lyn Gardner, Critic
In Good Company has been a dynamic catalyst for the development of new work and regional artists, and has inspired a culture of nurturing and support across the region. Derby Theatre and In Good Company are part of ‘The Big House’, a £5 million tailored support programme for the creative and digital industries (CDI) sector, part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Our new In Good Company programme which begins in Autumn 2018 (funded by Arts Council England until 2021 and ERDF until 2019) builds on the original partnership from 2014 of Derby Theatre, Attenborough Arts Centre and Create, Mansfield and is now supported by ten partners: Derby Theatre, Attenborough Arts Centre, Burton Brewhouse, Lincolnshire One Venues, The Old Library (Mansfield), Arena Theatre (Wolverhampton), Nonsuch (Nottingham), Curve (Leicester), Nottingham Playhouse and New Diorama (London).
The new programme works across the East Midlands and beyond, and will consist of the following strands:
Community: · Regular newsletters, social events and 1-to-1 advice meetings for artists· Online directory which will allow artists to upload and share CVs/portfolios
Development:· 36 Masterclasses and workshops
02/10/18
Sensitivity: Internal
· Rolling artist-support fund offering seed commissions to local artists (between 24 - 48 awards)
· Three commissioning funds for mid-career artists· Two commissioning funds for specific areas of work set by IGC partner venues, e.g.
work for young people, diversity
New Writing· Three new writing shows realised to production
Performance · Platforms for new work through festivals and scratch nights including the flagship
Departure Lounge Festival (Derby) and its precursor Check-In Festival (Leicester)· Development and performance opportunities with our London partner New Diorama
for artists from the East Midlands· Subsidised touring programme supporting partner venues to programme three high
quality, risk-taking shows In all of this work we are committed to actively removing barriers to enable creative people to get involved, whatever their circumstances. This project is premised on the idea that a partnership between an artist or company and a venue is, in itself, an artistic activity, where the artist brings ideas, inspiration and sound practice and the venue brings resources, collective expertise and, crucially, critical mass in the shape of an inquisitive audience. The project or production comes into being as a result of this synthesis.
Through ‘The Big House’ project, Derby Theatre and In Good Company have secured additional funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of a consortium of creative organisations across Derby/Derbyshire and Nottingham/Nottinghamshire. As a result we have launched a range of business support services for the creative and digital sectors in the region, focusing on the performing arts.
This industry-specific support to increase the competitiveness of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) is provided under the umbrella of the existing In Good Company scheme for emerging artists and talent development. The support offered to SMEs complements the support offered by the other partners across the region: NBV; New Arts Exchange; Nottingham Trent University (The Hive); Creative Quarter; QUAD.
ABOUT DERBY THEATRE

This has transformed the theatre from a traditional producing house into an organisation that places learning at the heart of its mission.
In a unique relationship, students from the University of Derby’s degree programmes study in the theatre, both learning from our professional staff and putting on productions in a professional environment.
