The Spirit of Sharing (SOS) Food Bank in New Braunfels is our local branch of the San Antonio Food Bank, assisting its monthly clientele. Thanks to the generosity of First Protestant Church and other donors, we were able to provide for 436 families during the month of May, totaling 1,079 individuals. There is a great need in our area and FPC has always stepped up to fill it. Now we’ve moved into the summer months, when children who rely on breakfast and lunch at their schools, no longer have those free meals provided. Let’s double our efforts to make sure these children don’t spend one day hungry because of the inability to provide food in the home. The collection boxes are in the tower room and outside Schumann Hall for any canned or non-perishable foods you want to leave. A big “Thank You!” to our dedicated volunteers that actually pick up our donations and deliver them to the food bank. The First Protestant Church (FPC) Mission to Russia is looking for volunteers. As a congregaon, we are in our second year of supporng the Russian Bapst Church in Glinishchevo, Russia. We have completed two mission trips to Glinishchevo. In August of 2015, FPC sent a group of three there on a ten-day trip. In August of this year, four more went for another ten days. Who were these missionaries we sent? We sent a landscaper, a teacher, a minister, a police officer, a businesswoman, and a carpenter. They are members of our congregaon, just like you! FPC is connuing to develop our relaonship with the church in Glinishchevo, and the encouragement, support, and friendship we provide the members of that congregaon is spectacular to experience! We can see the Lord's hand in the things we do together. It's excing to journey across the world and find that the Lord has a plan for using you in the community of Glinishchevo, Russia. No one arrives there by accident. One of this year's fun missionary stories involved the landscaper. He had pictured himself pung panels and stucco on the church building to help complete their exterior construcon project. When the Russian minister asked him his profession, he explained that he was a landscaper. The Russian minister revealed they had been hoping to find someone to help them beaufy the front yard of their church, which looked a lot like a construcon site. A garden with crosses was created, aracng posive aenon among local residents. They needed a landscaper, God sent them one from FPC. What are your skills? What are your interests? Are you worried about the language barrier, about what you will be able to eat, or about where you will stay? Do you believe God may have already figured those things out for you? FPC is planning to send another group of missionaries to Russia again next year. How could God use you in a faraway land? You won't know unl you're standing there. We hope that you will consider this mission as an opportunity to fulfill the commission given to us by Jesus in Mahew 28:19: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Put on the armor of God, step forward, and trust God to direct your steps. To find out more about our visits or if you are interested in parcipang in the next mission to Russia, please contact a member of the ministry team aſter church. Church Offices Closed July 3rd and July 4th in Observance. We will start up Flying Fingers on Wednesday July 5th at 9:30am, in Mae’s office upstairs. Please join us for a morning of fellowship, learning to know one another better and what we can do for others. We can use people to iron fabric, cut fabric, sew, knit, crochet items and more. If you don’t know how , we’ll be glad to teach you .or if you just need to get out of the house for a couple of hours. It is a great way to serve the Lord and enrich your life. Flying Fingers

27 Again they entered Jerusalem. As Jesus was walking through the Temple area, the leading priests, the teachers of religious law, and the elders came up to him. 28 They demanded, “By what authority are you doing all these things? Who gave you the right to do them?”

29 “I’ll tell you by what authority I do these things if you answer one question,” Jesus replied. 30 “Did John’s authority to baptize come from heaven, or was it merely human? Answer me!”

31 They talked it over among themselves. “If we say it was from heaven, he will ask why we didn’t believe John. 32 But do we dare say it was merely human?” For they were afraid of what the people would do, because everyone believed that John was a prophet. 33 So they finally replied, “We don’t know.”

And Jesus responded, “Then I won’t tell you by what authority I do these things.”
