MODUS Structural Insulated Panel SystemStructural insulated panels are a high performance composite building material, consisting of a “sandwich” of two layers of high-strength metal cladding with an insulating layer of rigid Expanded Polystyrene (EPS). This entire assembly is chemically bonded together, creating a strong and rigid building component. In fact, SIP walls allow the application of an internal and external structural skin and thermal insulation to a building in one stage and are typically 2.5 times stronger than conventionally framed walls.
Standard Features Rigid expanded polystyrene core (EPS) Exclusive tongue-and-groove joint system 26-gauge steel surface 18-gauge vertical steel duct and wire chase system
SIP Benefits High insulation value (R4 per inch) Airtight and reduced thermal bridging reducing energy costs EPS outperforms traditional fiberglass or cellulose insulations Stronger than 2”x6” Construction No food source for pests Easily assembled Factory assembly reduces errors in manufacturing Long life expectancy
Environmental Efficiency Low embodied energy used during SIP production No dangerous off-gassing EPS can be recycled for new polystyrene production EPS within the panel is inert and does not absorb moisture, eliminating mould and mildew issues Limited natural resources are not used
Architectural Versatility Architecturally versatile interior/exterior finishing: stucco, wood, acrylic, steel, drywall
