FMM Ins tute was incorporated as a separate com pa ny of the Federa on of Malaysian Man u fac tur ers (FMM) on January

12, 1999. This eff ort was specifi cally to expand and focus on its train ing func ons, in line with the objec ves of FMM to develop the poten als and enhance the skills of per son nel at every level in the industry. This will create a pool of manpower trained in all aspects of in dus tri al skills and management ca pa bil i es to face the chal leng es as the country moves into the status of an in dus tri al na on.

Con nuing professional educa on pro vides the opportunity for the working per son nel to gain the necessary qual i fi ca ons to upgrade themselves both pro fes sion al ly as well as for self-de vel op ment. This op por tu ni ty is made possible through FMM Ins tute’s Cer fi cate and Di plo ma courses in selected ar eas of in dus tri al and man age ment skills. FMM Ins tute obtained its In s tu on of Private Higher Educa on (IPTS) status from the Ministry of Educa on on July 19, 2001 to off er Diploma and other higher level courses. Eff orts are ongoing to off er Degree and Masters level courses specially designed to meet the Train ing Needs of the Man u fac tur ers.

A wide range of training courses are also off ered on an in-house basis. These include all the public courses as well as those that need to be specially customised to meet the training needs of specifi c in dus tries. Course outlines and objec ves are discussed with the com pa nies and trainers will be selected to develop the courses accordingly. All in-house courses are packaged to be cost eff ec ve for com pa nies with no com pro mise on the qual i ty of the course and the desired result. FMM Ins tute is a registered Training Provider with Pembangunan Sumber Manusia berhad (PSMB).

FMM Ins tute, Perak is housed at Ipoh, Perak. It has 4 modern training rooms with a total sea ng capacity of 120 par cipants and one FMM Hall that can accommodate a total of 80 par cipants.

A new fi nancial repor ng framework was established in Malaysia on March 6, 1997 under the Financial Repor ng Act 1997. Accoun ng staff are required to understand the changes and developments of Financial Repor ng Standards (FRSs). FRSs prescribe the basis for presenta on of fi nancial statements in order to ensure comparability with both the enterprise’s own fi nancial statements of previous periods and with the fi nancial statements of other enterprises. The main objec ve is to provide guides and explana ons on the prepara on of corporate fi nancial statements with updates on the new standards.

This course is designed to create awareness and understanding of receiving, handling, storage and disposal of chemical. It also details out the management of chemical spillage. A survey conducted revealed that most of the Emergency Response Teams, especially in chemical oriented plants would be ineff ec ve in the event of a disaster. Guess why? It is because the organiza ons which planned the forma on of an Emergency Response Team, failed to train the members how to manage emergencies such as chemical spillages. Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF)

Employers who are registered with Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB) are eligible for training grants through the various schemes available under the HRDF. The Scemes are as follows:

SBL Schemes (SBL)Employers can claim for reimbursement from HRDF upon completion of programme. However, approval from PSMB is required prior to commencement of programme by completing Form PSMB/PGL/1/09 or via online thru Employer Information System (EIS). Training grants can be considered for all types of training courses (both in-house and external) for the retraining and skills upgrading of employees relevant to the needs of employers.

PERLA Scheme (PERLA)FMM Institute will claim the entire amount directly from the employer’s account with HRDF. Under this scheme, no prior application for programme approval is required, except application for levy reservation. However, employer must submit Form PSMB/PER/T2/06 to FMM Institute before the commencement of programme. It is only applicable for training programmes with Approved Training Programme (ATP) status.

Prolus Scheme (PROLUS)Under this scheme, employers are not required to obtain prior approvals from PSMB to attend the programme. It is only for training programmes with approved Training Programme (ATP) status.

SBL -Khas Schemes (SBL-K)Similar to PERLA scheme but approval from PSMB is required prior to commencement of programme by completing Form PSMB/T/1/09 or via online thru Employer Information System (EIS). Employers must submit form PSMB/SBL-KHAS/T2/09 to FMM Institute prior to commencement of programme.

RATE OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The rate of reimbursement for all types of locally conducted training programmes is 100%.
