Evaluation
All courses are conducted and evaluated in a continuous & internal manner by the faculty who teach these courses. The student
registers for a certain number of courses each semester; the year being divided into two semesters, and a summer term, whenever
offered. A faculty member, as registration advisor, helps a student to draw up his programme, suitable to his pace and needs, which is
made possible by the course-wise time-table of the Institute. It is the responsibility of the student to attend classes regularly and to
maintainthe required levelof scholastic standing (Please refer to the AttendanceCharter).
Assessment:
The performance of a student in each course is assessed by the teacher bymeans of continuous evaluation throughout the semester in
class work, periodical quizzes, tests (sometimes unannounced), tutorials, home work, projects, etc. and a comprehensive
examination at the end of the semester. The student is thereby given a large number of opportunities to prove himself and be
evaluated. The system encourages and rewards continuous and systematic study. It provides constant feedback to the student as to
wherehe stands, thus enablinghim to cultivate regular habits of studying / learningand preparing himself for the future.
Unusual methods of evaluation have been evolved in the Practice School courses to take account of certain traits whichdo not surface
in classroom education, like professional judgement, decision-making ability, interdisciplinary approach, initiative, leadership, senseof responsibility, etc.
Grading
The system discards the conventional emphasis on a single final examination and numerical marks as the only absolute indication of
the quality of a student's performance. Thus, at the end of the semester the teacher of the course awards letter grades A, B, C, F to the
student based on the total performance of the student and it is relative to the performance of others taking the same course. These
letter grades standfor quality performance : A-Excellent, B-Good,C-Fair and F- Fail.
Further, these letter grades have points associated with them in a quantified hierarchy. There are also courses in which the teacher
awards non-letter grades which have only a qualitative hierarchy. The teacher may also pronounce the performance of a student in a
course in termsof certain reports which should not bemisconstrued as grades.
The Institute, being fully residential with an internal and continuous evaluation system, expects every student to be responsible forregular attendance in classrooms, to appear in scheduled tests and examinations and to fulfil all other tasks assigned to him in every
course. The system has adequate resilience to accommodate unforeseen situations through withdrawal froma course, mock-up tests,
feedback from examinations and interaction with teachers. When, in spite of all these facilities, a student fails to co-operate with the
teacher in the discharge of his part of the contract to such an extent that the teacher is unable to award any grade, the teacher is
authorized to give a F (FAIL) report.
A student is deemed to have cleared a course if he obtains a grade in the course. However the educational philosophy of the Institute
interlinks and at the same time distinguishes between the performance of a student in a single course and his overall cumulative
performance. The overall performanceof a student is indicated by an index knownas the CumulativeGradePoint Average (CGPA).
It is the weighted average of the grade points of all the letter grades received by the student since his entry into the Institute and is
expressed ona 10-point scale.
During the student's stay in the Institute, the Institute expects him to show certain minimum performance and progress. The minimum
academic requirement is regarding the performance and progress forthe Integrated programme is :
ACGPA of at least 4.5 at the end of every semester.
Not more than one C grade ina semester is allowed for integrated programmes.
Students who fail to meet the minimum academic requirements stipulated above are put under an appropriate committee which
monitors their programmes and gives guidance so that they are properly rehabilitated at the earliest. This is done by Academic
Counseling Board (ACB) which is appointed by the Senate and is given authority to take appropriate action including discontinuance
of the student.

We take all academic misconduct extremely seriously and investigate all alleged offences of cheating in assessed work and
examinations. Students suspected of misconduct are dealt with accordingly through the Academy's Student Discipline Procedures.
Academic misconduct during examinations includes:
Unauthorized Material : The act of bringing unauthorized material (written, printed or in any other format) into the examination
room; communicating with, receiving assistance from, copying from or providing assistance to another candidate during an
examination; removingexaminationbooks orworksheets from the examination room. If the Institute finds a student to be inbreach of
discipline by having cheated in assessed work and/or examinations, it has the discretion to apply a range of penalties, ranging from
nullification of module results up to suspension or expulsion from the Institute. The standard penalty applied is to make null and void
all assessments undertaken during the relevant semester. We understand that students may not be fully aware of the issues
surroundingacademicmisconduct. It is therefore important that students inform themselves of these issues and seek the advice of staff
faculty support service as soon as any problems arise. The consequences of misconduct in examinations and all other forms of
assessmentare severe and may result in all assessments undertaken at the relevant subject beingmade null and void.
Copying : Copying the work of others, including that of other students in the class or group, is an indication of unfair means
whereby one person gains credit for the work undertaken by another. Where an element of reproduction is a desirable element of an
assessment, as might be the case in a group project or presentation, the instructions for the assessed work will specify the extent to
which such reproduction is permissible. The extent of legitimate reproduction must be acknowledged by a student within their work.
Students are advised to check the rest of theirwork to ensure that it is their own.Working with other students in informal study groups is
a desirable part of the academic experience but students must ensure that the work that is finally submitted is theirs and not that of
anyone else. Students should keep copies of material such as working notes, or sketches of diagrams or drafts of essays that show
that the work and its source has been acknowledged and identified.
Plagiarism : As the consequences of misconduct in examinations and all other forms of assessment are severe, the Student Guide to
Plagiarism can be foundat the end of Part B, prior to the Appendices.
Note on Detection of Plagiarism : College may require 'student work' to be submitted for checking using plagiarism detection
software. This is intended to assist students in identifying possible plagiarism in course work submitted for assessment which could
otherwise result in disciplinary action against students.
Collusion : Collusion involves an agreement to deceive. This means that more than one person is involved in the deception. An
accusation of collusion may be added to an accusation of copying if there is clear evidence of the involvement of each party.
Students should be extremely careful about lending their completed work to other persons. Students may think that they arehelping others to meet a deadline in lending their work to others but it may result in problems if other students copy a student's work
without informing them. What starts out asa supportive action may carry the risk of anaccusation of collusion.
Examination Rulesand Regulations : Passing inall the examinations is a must.Any student having backlog (s) will not beallowed to
appear for campus placement facility as the companies don't want to consider students with backlogs. Students, having any backlog,
should appear in the examination being held for the juniors, to clear the same. The management is seriously considering a proposal
to classify the students according to theirmarks and allow them to appear before selected companies according to their standards, as
exhibitedby their performance, for campus placements.

We plan to hold our training /classes for 365 days in a year .We are also likely to hold periodic examinations from 0800 Hrs. to 2300
Hrs. at least once in a week.We DO NOT believe in the concept of holidays. Because industry does not function on clock basis, the
Manager is required to function round the clock. It should be noted that we are more of a training establishment than a conventional
management institute. Each and every class is critical for continuous learning. Therefore NO request on medical grounds forexemption fromattendancewill be accepted.
A Full- Time course Student should have no work except attending the classes. They can not and should not have any other priority or
occupation. It is a costly course, which the parents have paid with a lot of pain and expectation. A good student should therefore
attend 100% classes.
However assuming that some students may have some genuine problems, a minimum of 80% of attendance is compulsory per
semester. Those students who have 80% of attendance are considered as 'Average' students by us and are not fielded for campus
placements in the initial phase of our campus placement. The approach here is that these are the weaker lot of our batch as they have
not received the full trainingbecause of their absence from classes.
Students should maintain 90% attendance and above in the interest of their growth and development. Very Senior Faculty are
teaching in our Institute. It must be noted the stress on attendance is directly linked to learning and equipping to become successful
managers. Attending classes regularly is in itself a big mind conditioning exercise. This shows students' commitment towards building
their corporate career. Therefore, we feel that there is a need to treat and reward different kinds of students with different percentages
of attendance differently as under:
a) Those who maintain 95% and above of the attendance will be awarded an attendance incentive marks which shall be 5% per
subject per semester. Theattendance will be calculatedper semester.
b)Only thosewith 90% and aboveof attendance for the three consecutive semesters may be allowed to sit for the first 10Companies.
It should benoted that it is not a punitiveaction; however, it is a way to reward studentswith high attendance.
c) Those who fail to maintain 80% of attendance in each semester will be placed in a RED LIST which means they may not be allowed
to appear in the examinationand avail the campus placement facility.
No reason, including proven medical certification, will be accepted as the student would have missed the learning /grooming
process. This can't bemade up if a student remains absent from class beyond permissible limits . Please note that weare a professional
Institute and you will be going through professional training without which one can't survive in the industry. It is just not a matter of
academics and passing the examinations. It is a matter of acquiring relevant skills, competence, knowledge and attitude required to
become a successful manger. It should also be noted that there is a difference between a Full Time regular course and a Distance
Learning programme. Studentswith lesser percentagesof attendance cannot bea part of any full time programme.
d) No one, including the Director, is empowered to grant attendance on medical ground or on any other ground, as one who is not
physically present or involved in academic activity can't be marked PRESENT in the class as it will be illegal. Only those who are
present in the class or involved in academic activity under the directions of the Dean/Director will get attendance. However, any one
having any medical problem should promptly avail medical assistance and those who have urgent family commitments can also visit
their family. We, as an Institute, cannot restrict the movement of the Students. However,WE DON'T HAVE ANY SYSTEM OF LEAVE
WITH ATTENDANCE !
Now it is up to you where you want to stand. You have the choice to obtain any kind of percentage of attendance and to avail the
advantages or disadvantages. Having categorically stated the portion well before your admission we will be unable to entertain any
request from you on the matter at a later date. You should, therefore, aim at 100% attendance and not 80% attendance. Please note
you do have a choice not to accept the offer of admission. However, this should not disturb you as the permissible limit of absence is
20% in each semester and if one calculates the total days on which one can legitimately be absent from the classes on account of
sickness or other contingencies it will bemore than 20 days in a year, provided they attend classes regularly from day one. Absenting
from classes for casual reasons or due to carelessness cannot be justified at all. Students are, therefore advised to save attendance, as
one savesmoney, so that a certain portion can be spentas and when needed, painlessly onmedical ground.

17. The industry at times asks us for references and opinion about the behaviour, conduct, integrity and suitability of the alumni for
specific jobs/ placements. They expect us to field the candidates with right attitude and attributes alone. Traditionally the Dean/
Director of the institute is a reference point. We are also required to sign testimonials whenever a student wants to go for higher
studies abroad. As time passes we have found it difficult to recollect the attributes of the individual students. Therefore, it has
been decided that we will suitably add a column in the Post Graduate Diploma of each student to state his/her 'Character andLeadership Qualities' assessed by the institute and record our opinion. The grading will be Exemplary / Very Good / Good /
Satisfactory / Unsatisfactory. The duplicate copy of the diploma will be a reference point for us in the future. We are sure that our
students will behave in a mature manner exhibiting positive attributes and leadership qualities, contributing to their growth and
developmentand enablingus to give the highest grading.
