FRIENDS OF THE OLDHAM COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARIES Wednesday June 8, 2011

James Daniel Ross, a science fiction author who lives in Northern Kentucky, spoke to the Friends General Meeting on the subject “How to Get Published”. At 7:30 President Acree held a brief business meeting. The April 2011 Minutes were available for reference and were approved unanimously on a motion by Suzie Lloyd. He announced that Oldham County Day will be held in LaGrange July 16. He asked for a motion to approve the $50.00 fee for the Friends booth. Sally Lackner so moved and the motion passed unanimously. We will have a separate booth beside the Library booth. Book bags will be available and we plan to sell books. Tony introduced Faye Frank who will be assisting Carol Snyder as Co-Treasurer. Copies of the proposed Bylaws were available for reference. These were prepared by a committee consisting of Connie Oldham, Suzie Lloyd, Sandy Thacker and Mary Wells and were approved by the Executive Committee. Tony pointed out that the General and Executive Committee Meetings have been spaced further apart and the Friends hope to sponsor events more often. After approval of the Bylaws we will next take steps to incorporate and after incorporation will be able to apply for 501(c)(3) status. Suzie Lloyd made a motion to accept the Bylaws and it passed unanimously. Carol Snyder displayed the new Friends banner which will be used for the first time at Oldham County Day. It will be stored in the Bookstore Carol Braund announced that the Library needs volunteers to help on movie nights and also at the Oldham County Day booth. Linda Goin offered to help contact authors for future programs. The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
