Based upon your observations, please answer the following questions in narrative form
1. Identify the teachers goals for instruction; what is it that she wants the students to learn? How is that goal evidenced? Students were preparing for debates usingresearch papers they previously submitted. They had laptops and
completed a graphic organizer with pros and cons. They are working in
groups to prepare their arguments.
2. What behaviors (teacher and student) did you witness that you would consider as routine?Examples include calling roll, lining up for recess or restroom, and distributing papers. How
were these routines carried out? Explain how these routines were effective OR ineffective.
The teacher operated a 3 strikes and you have a write up routine.
When there was an incident, the teacher wrote their name on the board. She frequently reminded those who had their name on the board. This
method was extremely effective. Visual reminders work well with this
group. There was a strong sense of respect established in this class. She
also waited until the class was actively involved in their projects to take
roll. She did this without disturbing the class.
3. What teacher strategies did you witness that helped maintain good behavior? She would compliment good behavior verbally and would share with the
class if good resources were used.
4. If there was a class disruption, how did the teacher respond? What made the methodeffective or ineffective?

concern. This method was effective because the incident was immediately
stopped.
5. Was there any visible evidence of a behavior management plan? What made that planeffective or ineffective?
The students were aware that she would not hesitate to send them out
or would deduct points on participation grade. This was effective.
6. Which teaching method(s) did you seewhole group?
teams with competition?
individual work?
small group instruction? Yespairs?
lecture? Yes
differentiation? YesIdentify evidence/reasons that those methods did or did not work effectively.
These methods worked because the students worked within their groups to
identify pros and cons for their topics. They started discussing the topics
within their groups which will prepare them when they go before the whole
class for the debate.
7. How can you use what you have learned in your own classroom? She constantly encouraged her students to go above and beyond. She
frequently provided good behavior compliments. I often find myself only
acknowledging bad behavior, which most of the time is only done for
attention. I will try to acknowledge good behavior equally.
8. What about your day surprised you most? Many of the students in this class are also in a class that I teach. Students
act differently when surrounding by different groups of their peers.
