FOCUS UNITSOperating theatre laminar flow ceiling modules.Focus units provide ultra clean laminar airflow for operating theatres.

GENERAL CONSTRUCTIONFocus units are constructed from galvanised steel and stainless steel. All theatre-side surfaces are powder coated or stainless steel for ease of disinfecting.
Focus units are transported as separate modules which are bolted together on site during installation.

FOCUS UNIT SELECTIONThe selection of the Focus unit is generally based on the size of the clean zone required for a particular type of surgery
Focus 1000 – Small theatres / Day procedure - Diffusion size – 1,900mm x 1,900mm - Overall size – 2,200-2,800 square (subject to options required) - Nominal airflow – 1500-1750 L/s - Filters – 4 off
Focus 2000 – General surgery / Orthopaedic - Diffusion size – 2,400mm x 2,400mm - Overall size – 2,800-3,300mm square (subject to options required) - Nominal airflow – 2200 L/s - Filters – 8 off
Focus 3000 – Orthopaedic / Major surgery - Diffusion size – 2,800mm x 2,800mm - Overall size – 3,200-3,420mm square (subject to options) - Nominal airflow – 2980 L/s - Filters – 8 off

DESIGN TARGETSRisk analysis based design - Including CFD analysis, Prototype construction and field testing prior to release to the market
Air flow at operating zone – 0.20 – 0.3 m/s – subject to code / guidelines - NSW – 0.20-0.25 m/s - VIC – 0.3 m/s (considered high) - European standards are considerably lower – 0.15 to 0.25 m/s depending on which country
Lighting – Lux levels 600-800 lux - Light spectrum - there is an Australian standard (AS1680) which nominates the requirements for a specific light spectrum, C.O.I. The Cyanosis Observation Index - Dimming - part of DHS guidelines but as the lighting is dimmed the spectrum changes
STANDARDSHTM-025 - UK standard which has been superseded by HTM-03 - Based on guidelines for clean workstations (Focus 3000 with skirt)
HTM-03 - UK standard which supersedes HTM-2025 - Includes the requirement for increased energy efficiency, including variable or 2 speed turn down
DIN 9016 - European standard - 0.15-0.3 m/s - Range of Capacities and Sizes for specific purposes - Provision for on site testing
