Decide To Listen Make you are willing to pay
attention on what the speaker is trying to say throughout his or her message. Be open to new ideas and concept and listen without become defensive or critical.
Focus On The Speaker.
As listening to what the speaker has to say establish and maintain eye contact with the him or her. Concentrate and give the speaker time to speak before beginning to question or comment.
Create The Proper Atmosphere.
Minimize outside distraction as much as possible. If you are meeting the person one-on-one, choose a place which is suitable. Make sure the atmosphere has no negativities of interruptions.
Show That You Are Paying Attention.
Use appropriate nonverbal signs to show you are receiving the message and paying attention. Ask questions if more information is needed and ask them to repeat if you didn’t under stand anything.

Listener: You’re afraid you cant finish the job on time because there’s no one to watch the kids.
