F.O.E. Grand Worthy President Chuck Lang Passes Away

A Message From The Lang Family

To the Officers of the Grand & Chuck's friends,

Of all the thank yous - this is by far the hardest to write. It is the final message from Chuck. I'm sure you know - but I will say it anyway - he was so proud to be an Eagle.

He was proud to call you his brothers & sisters. Seems every conversation we ever had ALWAYS came back to the Eagles. I'm sure there were bumps along the way, but things seemed to work out and you got better in your Eagle ways.

Thank you for the beautiful flowers and your presence at his funeral. He would have been absolutely floored to know you were there.

Not sure why God took him before he could accomplish his goals, but that is not up to me to know I guess.

From the bottom of my heart and my family - THANK YOU!

- Brenda Lang.

News & NotesOn December 16,

103-year-old Irene Hill, a member of Wyandotte Auxiliary #87, was surprised with her long-awaited diploma from Wyandotte High School. The special ceremony took place in the school’s auditorium.

A fire in 1933 destroyed the high school and local historian Craig Delich discovered that two individuals who attended the school when disaster struck were still alive. The first had graduated from a neighboring high school, but the second – Hill – quit school to care for her mother.

Following her mother’s death, Hill married Clyde W. Hill. Back then, students who quit school and got married were not allowed to pursue a GED or return to school.

When Delich learned of Hill’s circumstances and her 30-year history working for the board of education’s food service department, he approached the school and superintendent about awarding the honorary degree to Hill. Irene had roughly 45 family members present for the event.

Sadly, Irene passed away in early January.
