BIO-PROTECT 500Bio-Protect 500 is a microbiostatic non-leaching, non-poisonous antimicrobial surface protectant. This unique product is EPA Registered as non-toxic and non hazardous and USDA accepted for food contact surfaces. Bio-Protect 500 is an easily applied liquid concentrate that proactively protects virtually all solid surfaces and fabrics from a broad array of bacteria and microorganisms and inhibits them from growing. In addition, since Bio-Protect 500 does not off gas a poison like traditional anti-microbials, the treated surface is protected for up to 90 days. The Product:
In Healthcare environments, it is important to understand the fundamental differences between surface
protection and disinfection. In addition. The use of Bio-Protect 500 is not meant to replace current protocols.
Instead, the use of Bio-Protect 500 will greatly enhance traditional cleaning methods.
With most disinfectants, a ten-minute dwell time on a surface will render most microbes inactive. Unfortunately,
disinfectants fall into the category of non-bound technologies. In other words they off-gas poisons to be effective
against microbes. By doing this they in effect “give themselves up” and on total evaporation leave little if any
residual benefits…dry surface = zero kill.
Here is where Bio-Protect 500, surface protectant excels. Through the process of splicing Silane and Organo
molecules, this combination yields a very efficacious surface treatment. This splicing allows the best properties of a
disinfectant to continue working on the surface for up to ninety days. In effect, any surface treated with Bio-
Protect 500 will have long-term protection. Since the Mode of Action is micro-biostatic nature, it is equally
effective on all surfaces. This includes both porous and non-porous surfaces. This is another benefit since most
disinfectants are only approved for hard, non-porous surfaces.
Bio-Protect 500 is a patented and Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) registered product. It’s
Microbiostatic Antimicrobial Coating prevents the growth
of a wide array of bacteria, mold, mildew, fungus, algae, and
yeast. It acts like a bed of microscopic spikes that pierce the
cell walls to destroy and kill microbes offering a totally new
approach to providing long-lasting antimicrobial protection.
One end of the Bio-Protect 500 molecule creates a strong
bond with a multitude of surfaces, both porous and
nonporous, forming a highly durable protective coating.
The other end of the molecule forms a microscopic bed of
spikes that puncture microbes like a bed of nails. The Bio-
Protect 500 Microbiostatic Antimicrobial Coating physically
ruptures the cell walls of these microbes, without the use of
poisons. Since the Bio-Protect 500 Microbiostatic
Antimicrobial Coating methodology is mechanical instead
of a poison, it does not create “superbugs,” which are
microbes that build up a resistance to treatment.
How it Works
Over 30 years of research and development went in to the
creation of the Bio-Protect 500 Microbiostatic
Antimicrobial Coating. The technology has undergone
extensive independent laboratory testing and has a long
history of safe use. It is registered with the EPA for all
applications in which it is used.
All antimicrobials are not created equal. It’s important to
understand the basic chemical, physical, and biological
properties of an antimicrobial so the best choice can be
made. Because of its unique mode of action and inability to
migrate from a treated surface, our technology is the best
choice to minimize environmental contamination and the
development of resistant organisms.
Our EPA approved products are safe for the environment,

Does coating give off gases during or after application?
No, it does not volatilize dissipate or leach onto other surfaces. It’s chemistry polymerizes where it is applied and forms a permanent bond that essentially lasts the life of the treated surface. Normal cleaning will not remove the treatment although it can be eventually abraded away.
How long will the treatment last?
Can the product be used on porous and non-porous surfaces?
Yes, it can be used on all surfaces both porous and non-porous. This is a tremendous advantage over disinfectants which by federal law are only approved for hard non-porous surfaces.
How is the product applied?
The water based product can be applied by trigger sprayer, pump up sprayer, back pack sprayer and fogging.
Is there regrowth after treatment?
Because of its unique chemistry, it provides long-term protection against regrowth and future contamination on treated surfaces. Porous surfaces, which are contaminated below the surface, will occasionally experience some growth that breaks through a treated surface.
What preparation is necessary prior to applying the treatment?
For best results, surfaces should be cleaned or scoured.
Are there any safety concerns after application is complete?
The unique properties permits near permanent bonding to any surface to which it is applied. Furthermore, this product will not give any gases, leach onto other surfaces or loose its strength over time. As long as the surface is kept clean with normal cleaning procedures, the surface will continue to fight any microbial growth.
Since the cured antimicrobial is non-volatile, insoluble and non-leaching, one treatment ideally lasts for 90 days on the treated surface. However, effective life of a treatment depends on other factors such as initial cleanliness, on-going cleaning practice etc, so re-application between 60 to 90 days is recommended. Independent testing has been conducted to verify effectiveness after 100 standard washes or cleaning processes on hard surfaces..

What types of microorganisms does it work against?
It is effective against odor causing bacteria, mold and mildew.
Does this mean 1 don't have to clean my surfaces as much or as carefully?
No. The product provides continuous antimicrobial protection that protects the surfaces. However, normal cleaning practices should be maintained.
Does it begin working immediately?
It begins to work after it has dried and as soon as the microorganism come into contact with the protected surface. Under right conditions, microbes on an untreated surface can be doubled in every 20 minutes.
