I Think I'm Related to Bigfoot (from Walker Elementary)

A Funny Bigfoot Poem for Kids

I think I'm related to Bigfoot,

though nothing has ever been proved.

I sort of suspect he's a cousin,

just seven or eight times removed.

It's not that I'm apelike or hairy.

It isn't the size of my feet.

It's more on account of my family.

We're all fairly far from petite.

My sister is kind of a Bigmouth.

My brother could go by Bigsmelly.

My mother is known for her Bighair.

My father? You guessed it: Bigbelly.

And as for myself, I'm attractive.

You might even call me a cutie,

except for one obvious feature...

my family all call me Bigbootie.

I'm Staying Home From School Today

by Ken Nesbitt

I'm staying home from school today. I'd rather be in bed

pretending that I have a pain that's pounding in my head.

I'll say I have a stomach ache.

I'll claim I've got the flu. I'll shiver like I'm cold

and hold my breath until I'm blue.

I'll fake a cough. I'll fake a sneeze. I'll say my throat is sore. If necessary I can throw a tantrum on the floor.

I'm sure I'll get away with it. Of that, there's little doubt.

But, even so, I really hope my students don't find out.

The Creature in the Classroom

Jack Prelutsky

It appeared inside our classroom

at a quarter after ten,

it gobbled up the blackboard,

three erasers and a pen.

It gobbled teacher’s apple

and it bopped her with the core.

“How dare you!” she responded.

“You must leave us . . . there’s the door.”

The Creature didn’t listen

but described an arabesque

as it gobbled all her pencils,

seven notebooks and her desk.

Teacher stated very calmly,

“Sir! You simply cannot stay,

I’ll report you to the principal

unless you go away!”

But the thing continued eating,

it ate paper, swallowed ink,

as it gobbled up our homework

I believe I saw it wink.

Teacher finally lost her temper.

“OUT!” she shouted at the creature.

The creature hopped beside her

and GLOPP . . . it gobbled teacher.

The Hard Way

I've got a rabbit's foot

and a four leaf clover.

A lucky penny

and a troll named Dover.

I've crossed my fingers,

I've wished on stars.

And for extra

safe measures,

I've wished on Mars.

I've avoided all ladders

and black cats as well.

Even went to a witch

for a fifty cent spell.

Now I'm armed

and I'm ready

to do my best.

Next time I'll just study

for my history test.
