Route: Travel south from Maryborough along the Bruce Highway towards Gympie. Before you reach Gympie take the Kilkivan turn-off onto the Wide Bay Highway. KILKIVAN – GOOMERI Follow the highway until you reach Kilkivan. Enjoy a relaxing stop here and visit a heritage café and the Kilkivan Shire Historical Museum or sample local olives and redclaw at the Fat Hen Farm. Continue on to Goomeri where you will find antique and craft shops and renowned pumpkin pies. SOUTH BURNETT Turn onto the Burnett Highway and then follow the Wineries signage for a true taste of the South Burnett.The towns of Kingaroy, Nanango, Wondai, Murgon, Cherbourg and Yarraman – all offer their own unique rural charms. Cellar door outlets offer quality award-winning wines. BUNYA MOUNTAINS The region is also bound by the magnificent Bunya Mountains – an isolated section of the Great Divide and a bushwalker’s paradise featuring a unique natural stand of Bunya and Hoop Pines. Head back to Maryborough via the Burnett Highway to Murgon.
