Empowering Lives Through Excellence Every Day!

In partnership with our community, our mission is to transform lives through an exception-al educational experience. Students at our six campuses excel in academics, fine arts, athletics, and in career and technology education. West Orange - Stark (WOS) High School offers students opportunities in multiple areas including Science, Technology, Engineer-ing, and Mathematics, as well as Career and Technology Education. Transportation is pro-vided to Lamar State College - Orange (LSCO) for dual enrollment classes. These college courses are free for qualified WOS students. Additionally in partnership with LSCO, an Early College High School (ECHS) allows students to earn an associate degree, 60 hours of college credit, and a High School diploma. This program is free to ECHS students. Robotic programs, UIL, and band offerings begin at the elementary level, as well as opportunities for membership in honor society organizations. Engineering competitions begin at Middle School. North Early Learning Center serves eligible families county-wide. The WOS Career Center at WOS High School also serves students from multiple school districts.

West Orange – Cove CISD empowers, transforms lives

The West Orange – Cove Consolidated Independent School District continues to empower and transform lives through excellence every day.

In November 2018, the community approved a $25.75 million bond to improve instructional opportunities and facilities. New technology was placed in classrooms this summer, as well as new furniture. Security improvements, parking upgrades, and other bond projects are in various phases of completion. This includes developing plans for a multi-purpose Events Center and a new facility for the transportation department.

Football turf installation was recently completed at Leroy D. Breedlove Field at Dan R. Hooks Stadium. Turf is also being installed at the baseball and softball fields.

Although many administrative leaders are working through bond details, campuses remain intensely focused upon instruction.

WOCCISD’s Early College High School (ECHS) at West Orange – Stark High School will begin a third year this fall. An ECHS is an innovative school that allows students an opportunity to earn a diploma and 60 college credit hours. The WOS program operates in partnership with Lamar State College Orange (LSCO). Annually, 25 eighth grade students are identified to enroll in ECHS as freshmen. These students are able to participate in standard high school activities and, at the same time, access all LSCO services and facilities. WOCCISD covers all costs, provides additional academic support, and supplies transportation. Last year, a College, Career, and Military Readiness counselor was added to WOS High School. Students benefit through opportunities to explore careers, attend job fairs, meet with post-secondary recruiters, receive college application assistance, and more.

WOS High School launched two MEGA Test Days in 2018-2019 in which the PSAT and SAT were given during the school day. These tests are paid for by WOCCISD.

Additionally new at the High School, is an Education Training program. It introduces students to the teaching profession. Ultimately, the district hopes that this program will assist in creating the next generation of educators. In WOCISD’s Grow Your Own Teacher program, scholarships are offered to current non-certified staff members working to become teachers. The District reimburses tuition with an agreement that the recipient will teach for three years upon earning certification. Scholarships have been awarded during the last two academic years and will continue to be awarded each spring.

As WOCCISD further strives to develop, sustain, and build the education profession, an Aspiring Administrators Leadership Academy continues, also in its third year. With this 10-month program, participants study the responsibilities of a school principal.

Foremost and finally, to recruit and maintain the best possible staff, the WOCCISD Board of Trustees approved, for the 2019-2020 school year, a $3,500 minimum salary increase for all full-time teachers. Stipends of $7,000 are offered for secondary math, Spanish, and bilingual teachers. A $3,000 stipend is offered for secondary science teachers.

As always, WOCCISD students continue to excel in outstanding academic and extra-curricular programs that include fine arts, robotics, UIL, career and technology education, student organizations, and athletics. West Orange – Cove CISD delivers an exceptional educational experience.
