Intelligent mowing

The robot works independently in its mowing area, which is marked out by a boundary wire. It tirelessly carries out its work, and can be programmed according to the user´s specific needs (schedule, cutting frequency, etc). The robot´s activity is recorded so that operating history and productivity records can be generated.

Unique cutting technique

The BIGMOW has 5 floating cutting heads.Each head has three stainless steel blades, all as sharp as a scalpel, which cut the grass into very fine particles (constant mulching). The blades automatically retract if they come into contact with an obstacle.

Our small family groundkeeping business maintains several football pitches. The BIG-MOW enables us to substantially reduce our running costs. What were previously unprofitable maintenance contracts now generate profitable income and, due to the clubs being so satisfied, we have been awarded contract extensions. The reduced use of chemical fertilisers gives financial and economic benefits. Staff who were previously occupied with grass mowing are now available for other tasks, which has enabled us to enter new markets without having to hire more employees.

Constant mulching

Depending on its program settings and the mowing area, BIGMOW will mow the whole pitch between 3 to 5 times per week. It only cuts the top of the grass. The cuttings are only a few millimetres long and can easily penetrate the soil, thereby providing 100 % natural fertiliser. This fine, clean and gentle cut imposes no stress to the pitch, and leaves the grass in top condition. Weeds dislike regular mowing which, in turn, hinders their development. The pitch is ready for the players who will enjoy the very best playing conditions.

Traditional mulching

Weekly mowing with a normal grassmower cuts the grass by several centimetres. This waste is too large in volume to decompose quickly and to turn into a natural fertiliser. If the cuttings are not collected and disposed of, they decompose and create slippery areas which are dange-rous for the players, and stimulate the growth of weeds, moss and mushrooms.

Our first BIGMOW was installed in 2006. At the end of 2012 ten of our twelve pitches now benefit from a BIGMOW. The remaining pitches will soon be equipped with this mower. In 2010, the Sports Turf Research Institute (STRI), the world leader in the design, research and management of sports pitches, carried out a comparative study of mowing results from two identical lawns during a complete season, with one lawn using a BIGMOW and the other a professional cylinder mower. This study was based on ten criteria and the results showed that BIGMOW outperforms the conventional mower on eight of the ten criteria. BIGMOW has now proven its superiority due to its regular and clean cutting technique, which enables higher chlorophyll content in the grass, in addition to the absence of disease and weeds.

BIGMOW is equipped with an exclusive Track & Trace system which immediately alerts both the Belrobotics control centre and the owner by SMS, of any malfunction or attempted theft. If the system detects it has been removed from the mowing area, an alert is immediately sent and BIGMOW´s position is automatically tracked by GPS. The thief can then be easily apprehended. In addition, the BIGMOW can be activated by a secret code, which excludes use by non-authorised persons.

Multiple security features

Belrobotics robots are fitted with integrated sonar and sensors which detect obstaclesand enable automatic adjustments to be made: speed reduction, change of route, etc. The cutting blades are fitted with protective buffers. If the mower is lifted, a sensor immediately stops blade movement. These features eliminate all risk of accidental injury.

Guidance system

BIGMOW uses exclusive and advanced exclusive guidance signal filtre technology. Whatever the working conditions, there is no risk of it losing its bearings due to elec-trical interference (mobile phone signals, buried or airborne power lines, magnetic fields,etc).
