Soccer-King of SportsFootball sports all involve, to varying degrees, kicking a ball with

the foot to score a goal. The most popular of these sports worldwide is association football, more commonly known as just "football" or "soccer". Unqualified, the word football applies to whichever form of football is the most popular in the regional

context in which the word appears, including American football, association football, Australian rules football, Canadian football,

Gaelic football, rugby league, rugby union and other related games. These variations of football are known as football "codes".

Various forms of 'football' can be identified in history, often as popular peasant games. Contemporary codes of football can be traced back to the codification of these games at English public

schools in the eighteenth and nineteenth century. Football League was founded in England, becoming the first of

many professional football competitions. In the twentieth century, the various codes of football have become amongst the

most popular team sports in the world.

Common elements

The various codes of football share the following common elements:

• Two teams of usually between 11 and 18 players; some variations that have fewer players (five or more per team) are also popular.

• A clearly defined area in which to play the game.• Scoring goals or points, by moving the ball to an opposing team's end of the field

and either into a goal area, or over a line.• Goals or points resulting from players putting the ball between two goalposts.• The goal or line being defended by the opposing team.• Players being required to move the ball—depending on the code—by kicking,

carrying, or hand-passing the ball.• Players using only their body to move the ball.In most codes, there are rules restricting the movement of players offside, and players

scoring a goal must put the ball either under or over acrossbar between the goalposts. Other features common to several football codes include: points being mostly scored by players carrying the ball across the goal line; and players receiving a free kick after they take a mark or make a fair catch.Peoples from around the world have played games which involved kicking or carrying a ball, since ancient times. However, most of the modern codes of football have their origins in England.

First team wich we present is:

• Real Madrid Club de Fútbol ,commonly known as Real Madrid, is a professional football club based in Madrid, Spain. It was founded in 1902 as Madrid Football Club and has traditionally worn a white home kit since. The word Real is Spanish for royal and was bestowed to the club by King Alfonso XIII in 1920 together with the royal crown in the emblem. The club established itself as a major force in both Spanish and European football during the 1950s.

• It is one of three clubs to have never been relegated from the top flight of Spanish football, along with Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona. Domestically, Real Madrid has won a record 31 La Liga titles, 18 Copas del Rey, 8 Supercopas de España, 1Copa Eva Duarte and 1 Copa de la Liga. Internationally it has won a record nine European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles and a record three Intercontinental Cups, as well as two UEFA Cups, and one UEFA Super Cup.

Second Pérez and Mourinho era• On 1 June 2009, Florentino Pérez regained Real Madrid's presidency.Pérez continued with

theGalácticos policy pursued in his first term, buying Kaká from A.C. Milan then purchasing Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United for a record breaking £80 million.

• Jose Mourinho took over as manager in May 2010.In April 2011, a strange occurrence happened, for the first time ever, four Clasicos were to be played in a span of eighteen days. The first fixture was for the Liga campaign on 17 April (which ended 1-1 with penalty goals for both sides), the Copa del Rey final (which ended 1-0 to Madrid), and the controversial two-legged Champions League semifinal on 27 April and 2 May (3-1 loss on aggregate) to Madrid.

• The first Clasico saw Cristiano Ronaldo get his first goal against Barcelona due to a penalty given to Madrid after a foul to Marcelo. The Copa del Rey final gave Real Madrid its first title under Mourinho with a header fromCristiano Ronaldo in extra time. The Champions League semifinal was perhaps the most controversial of the four, with the expulsion of Pepe in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, after an alleged "dangerous challenge" to Barcelona defender Dani Alves. Alves was carried out in a stretcher "unable to walk", but after Pepe was shown red, Alves came running back into the field within seconds. After Pepe's sending off, coach Jose Mourinho was also sent off, receiving a fine and a five-match ban. This same match was also controversial in that Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets being captured on video saying what seemed like a supposed racial slur to Madrid left-back Marcelo. The second leg was not as controversial as the first, with perhaps the exception of an annulled goal to Gonzalo Higuain after Cristiano Ronaldo had "fouled" Javier Mascherano as a result of a foul to Ronaldo by Gerard Pique.

• On December 7, Real Madrid made history by having the best run in the Champions League group stage by defeating Ajax with no losses.

The next team is Barcelona

• Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, English and Catalan footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto "Més que un club" (More than a club). The official Barça anthem is the "Cant del Barça" written by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs.Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona. It is the world's second richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €398 million. The club holds a long-standing rivalry with Real Madrid, and matches between the two teams are referred to as "El Clásico".

• They are the current Spanish and European football champions, and have won 21La Liga, 25 Copa del Rey, 10 Supercopa de España, 3 Copa Eva Duarte and 2Copa de la Liga trophies, as well as being the record holder for the latter four competitions. In international club football Barcelona have won four UEFA Champions League, a record four UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, four UEFA Super Cup, a record three Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and a record two FIFA Club World Cup trophies.

The Guardiola Era (2008)• The 2007–08 season was unsuccessful, and as Barça failed to emulate the success of previous

years, Barça B youth manager Josep Guardiola took over Frank Rijkaard's duties at the conclusion of the season.Josep Guardiola brought with him the now famous tiki-taka style of play which he had been taught during his time in the Barcelona youth teams. In the process Guardiola sold Ronaldinho and Deco, and started building the Barcelona team around Xavi, Iniesta and Messi.

• Barça beat Athletic Bilbao 4–1 in the 2009 Copa del Rey Final, winning the competition for a record-breaking 25th time. A historic 2–6 victory against Real Madrid followed three days later and ensured that Barcelona became La Liga champions for the 2008–09 season. Barça finished the season by beating the previous year's Champions League winners Manchester United 2–0 at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to win their third Champions League title and completed the first evertreble won by a Spanish side. The team went on to win the 2009 Supercopa de España against Athletic Bilbao and the 2009 UEFA Super Cup against Shakhtar Donetsk, becoming the first European club to win both domestic and European Super Cups following a treble. In December 2009, Barcelona won the 2009 FIFA Club World Cup,and became the first football club ever to accomplish the sextuple.Barcelona accomplished two new records in Spanish football in 2010 as they retained the La Liga trophy with 99 points and won the Spanish Super Cup trophy for a ninth time.

• As a result the overall trophy haul during the reign of Guardiola was further extended and saw FC Barcelona win their 13th trophy out of 16 possible in 3.5 years, thus confirming their recent domination in world football.

El Clásico

• El Clásico also known as El derbi español, is the name given in football to any match between Real Madrid and Barcelona. It is contested twice a year in the Spanish La Liga competition, and more often if the clubs meet in other competitions. Other than the UEFA Champions League Final, it is the most followed club football match in the world, watched by hundreds of millions of people.

• The rivalry comes about as Madrid and Barcelona are the two largest cities in Spain, and the two clubs are two of the richest, most successful and influential football clubs in the world. Barcelona leads the count in official titles won with 75 trophies (plus 3 Inter-Cities Fairs Cups considered the predecessor to the UEFA Cup and recognized by FIFA), while Real Madrid has won 74 trophies. Along with Athletic Bilbao, they are the only clubs in La Liga to have never been relegated.

• They are sometimes identified with opposing political positions, with Real Madrid viewed as representing Spanish nationalism, and Barcelona viewed as representing Catalan nationalism. The rivalry is regarded as one of the biggest in world football.

Current issues• The two teams met again in the UEFA Champions League semi-final in 2002, with Real

Madrid winning 0-2 in Barcelona and a 1-1 draw in Madrid. The match, dubbed by Spanish media as theMatch of the Century, was watched by more than 500 million people. In the Clásico held on November 2005, Barcelona played away in Madrid, winning 3-0. The star of the Barcelona team was Ronaldinho, who became the second Barcelona player after Diego Maradona to receive a standing ovation from Real Madrid fans. The rivalry has been strengthened over time by the internal transfer of players between the clubs. Barcelona players who have later played for Real Madrid include Bernd Schuster, who switched in 1988, Michael Laudrup, who went to Real Madrid on a free transfer in 1994, but the most notorious was former vice-captain Luís Figo's switch in 2000. Players transferring from Real Madrid to Barcelona are less frequent, the most recent being Luis Enrique, who went to Barcelona in 1996 where he went on to captain Barcelona, and also coached the reserve team in seasons 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11.A 2007 survey by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas determined that Real Madrid was the team with the largest following in Spain. Thirty-two percent of the Spanish population supported Real Madrid, while twenty-five percent supported Barcelona. In third place cameValencia CF, who were supported by five percent.Barcelona in turn is more popular in Europe than Madrid. According to a survey made by the German research agency Sport+Markt in 2010, Barcelona has approximately 57.8 million fans around Europe, while Real Madrid has 31.3 million fans.Globally, Real Madrid is the most popular football club in the world according to a study performed by Harvard University in 2007, with over 228 million supporters worldwide. The rivalry intensified in 2011 where, due to the final of the Copa Del Rey and the meeting of the two in the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona and Real Madrid were scheduled to meet each other four times in 18 days. Several accusations of unsportsmanlike behaviour from both teams and a war of words erupted throughout the fixtures which included four red cards. Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque stated that he was "concerned" that due to the rising hatred between the two clubs, that this could cause friction in the national side.
