Undercut Anchor Systems Expansion Anchor Systems Adhesive Anchor Systems

This type of anchor transfers load into the base material through mechanical interlockwith an undercut that is formed in the base material. The undercut can be formed be-fore or during setting of the anchor. These systems have very high reliability andperformance.

This type of anchor transfers load into the base material through friction grip that is established between the anchor’s expansion sleeve and the sidewalls of the drilled hole. This occurs when the anchor is set and the cone is drawn into the expan-sion sleeve. Expansion anchors pro-vide a reliable and economical fi xing system.

This type of anchor consists of a chemical mortar and a threaded metal stud. After installation a chemical reaction takes place that secures the stud in place and the chemical bonds to the sidewalls of the drilled hole. This system does not produce expansion forces, and therefore allows for smaller edge distances and spacings.

Corrosion Resistance Approved Anchors

Corrosion is the destruction of metal through chemical or electro-

chemical attack by the environment. In most indoor conditions

carbon steel anchors with zinc plating provide suffi cient corrosion

resistance. Stainless steel (A4) anchors are usually suitable for

outdoor or damp indoor conditions. Stainless steel anchors with

special corrosion resistant properties are necessary for aggressive

conditions such as roadway tunnels or chloride atmospheres.

To ensure that an anchor is capable of resisting the intended external

loads, the anchor must be suitable for the intended application and

installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommended

installation instructions. Anchors with independent technical approvals

(such as DIBt or ETA) have demonstrated suitable behavior and per-

formance for use in construction applications.

ULTRAPLUS M12 – M36The undercut anchor for exceptionally high loads in cracked and non-cracked concrete – also for shock and earthquake loads.

Function: When the anchor is installed the expansion segments are

driven down to the undercut in the drilled hole. The spring pressure auto-

matically expands the segments into the undercut with an audible “click.”

This results in a mechanical undercut connection without any expansion

pressure. The “positive undercut” allows perfect bearing of the segments

and ensures reliable transmission of the load into the concrete.

Benefits:

● Dependable fixing for high loads in cracked and non-cracked concrete

● High safety margins due to positive undercutting

● High strength threaded rod – Grade 10.9

● The spring automatically compensates for tolerances in the fixture

thickness

● Reduced edge distances and spacings

● Custom lengths available

● Proven performance history in resisting dynamic loads, shock loads, and

earthquakes. Expert reports available for these and other applications.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

The ULTRAPLUS undercut anchor is designed for use in applications where reliability and safety are essential, e.g. for anchoring safety relevant components in nuclear power plants, for industrial plants, conveyor systems, cranes, and also for special civil engineering solutions.

The LIEBIG ULTRAPLUS was developed to resist very high loads with its unique undercutting techno-logy. After the hole is drilled, a separate undercut is drilled using a special LIEBIG undercutting tool. When the anchor is inserted through the fixture, spring pressure opens the expanding segments. They lock into the undercut with a clearly audible click. The result is a mechanical interlock without expansion stresses. By applying the specified torque, the fixture is fastened in position. The “positive undercut” allows perfect bearing of the segments and ensures reliable transmission of the load into the concrete.

1) The permissible loads have been calculated using the partial safety factors for resistances stated in the ETA-approval and a partial safety factor for actions of γF = 1.4. The permissible loads are valid for unreinforced concrete and reinforced concrete with a rebar spacing s ≥ 15 cm and reinforced concrete with a rebar spacing s ≥ 10 cm if the rebar is 10 mm or smaller.

2) The permissible shear loads are based on a single anchor without infl uencing concrete edges. For shear loads applied close to an edge (c ≤ 10 hef or 60 d) concrete edge failure must be checked per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A.

3) Concrete is considered non-cracked when the tensile stress within the concrete is σL + σR ≤ 0. In the absence of detailed verifi cation σR = 3 N/mm² can be assumed (σL equals the tensile stress within the concrete as a result of external loads, forces on anchors included).

4) If spacings or edge distances become smaller than the characteristic values (i.e. s ≤ scr,N and/or c ≤ ccr,N) a calculation per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A must be performed. For details, see ETA-04/0099.

5) The permissible bending moments are only valid for the threaded stud (e.g. in case of a distance mounting).

6) This hmin only applies when the remote face of the concrete is inspected to ensure there has been no break-through as a result of drilling. Otherwise hmin = 360 mm (M16) and hmin = 400 mm (M20).

SUPERPLUSSelf-undercutting anchorThe undercut fi xing system that does not require a special setting tool.

Type BLS Type ILS

Function: Automatically self-undercutting. The unique design of the

SUPERPLUS causes an undercut to be created when the installation torque

is applied. As torque is applied to the anchor the cone is drawn into the

anchor sleeve and the sleeve’s outer cutting teeth expand and undercut into

the base material. This results in a durable mechanical interlock with base

material that functions in both cracked and non-cracked concrete.

Benefits:

● High capacity in cracked and non-cracked concrete

● High reliability due to undercut technology

● Simple installation, no special drill bit or setting tool required

● Applying torque creates undercut

● Two approved embedment depths per diameter

● Lower installed cost than traditional undercut anchors

● Reduced edge distances and spacings

1) The permissible loads have been calculated using the partial safety factors for resistances stated in the ETA-approval and a partial safety factor for actions of γF = 1.4. The permissible loads are valid for unreinforced concrete and reinforced concrete with a rebar spacing s ≥ 15 cm and reinforced concrete with a rebar spacing s ≥ 10 cm if the rebar is 10 mm or smaller.

2) The permissible shear loads are based on a single anchor without infl uencing concrete edges. For shear loads applied close to an edge (c ≤ 10 hef or 60 d) concrete edge failure must be checkedper ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A.

3) Concrete is considered non-cracked when the tensile stress within the concrete is σL + σR ≤ 0. In the absence of detailed verifi cation σR = 3 N/mm² can be assumed (σL equals the tensilestress within the concrete as a result of external loads, forces on anchors included).

4) The permissible bending moments are only valid for the threaded stud (e.g. in case of a distance mounting).

5) If spacings or edge distances become smaller than the characteristic values (i.e. s ≤ scr,N and/or c ≤ ccr,N) a calculation per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A must be performed. For details, see ETA-01/0011.

SAFETY BOLTTwin-cone heavy duty bolt with cylindrical expansion for increased anchoring security.

Function: Application of the installation torque causes the anchor’s two

opposing cones to be drawn into the expansion sleeve. This causes the

sleeve to be pressed against the sidewalls of the hole over its entire length

and results in optimum frictional resistance and high load capacity in

cracked and non-cracked concrete.

Benefits:

● High capacity in cracked and non-cracked concrete

● Cylindrical expansion of sleeve over entire length

● Solid all-steel construction

● Torque indication from domed washer

4) The permissible bending moments are only valid for the threaded stud (e.g. in case of a distance mounting).

5) For spacings smaller than the characteristic values (i.e. s ≤ scr,N) a calculation per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A shall be performed. For details, see ETA-06/0108.

6) The actual edge distance shall not be less than the value of cmin shown in the table.

7) Size M20 is not included in the approval.

4) For spacings smaller than the characteristic values (i.e. s ≤ scr,N ) a calculation per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A shall be performed. For details, see ETA-06/0108.

5) The actual edge distance shall not be less than the value of cmin shown in the table.

6) Size M20 is not included in the approval.

1) The permissible loads have been calculated using partial safety factors for resistances and a partial safety factor for actions of γF = 1.4.The permissible loads are valid for unreinforced concrete and reinforced concrete with a rebar spacing s ≥ 15 cm and reinforced concrete with a rebar spacing s ≥ 10 cm if the rebar is 10 mm or smaller.

2) The permissible shear loads are based on a single anchor without infl uencing concrete edges. For shear loads applied close to an edge (c ≤ 10 hef or 60d) concrete edge failure must be checked per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A.

3) Concrete is considered non-cracked when the tensile stress within the concrete is σL + σR ≤ 0. In the absence of detailed verifi cation σR = 3 N/mm² can be assumed (σL equals the tensile stress

within the concrete as a result of external loads, forces on anchors included).

4) The permissible bending moments are only valid for the threaded stud (e.g. in case of a distance mounting).

5) For spacings smaller than the characteristic values (i.e. s ≤ scr,N ) a calculation per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A shall be performed.

6) The actual edge distance shall not be less than the value of cmin shown in the table.

LIEBIG ANCHORGeneral purpose heavy duty anchor.

Function: Application of the installation torque draws the anchor’s

cone into the thick-walled expansion sleeve. This causes the sleeve to be

pressed against the sidewalls of the hole and develops tension resistance

through friction.

Benefits:

● Economical high capacity anchor

● Approved for use in cracked and non-cracked concrete.

4) The permissible bending moments are only valid for the threaded stud type AB (e.g. in case of a distance mounting).

5) For spacings smaller than the characteristic values ((i.e. s ≤ scr,N

) a calculation per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A shall be performed.

6) The actual edge distance shall not be less than the value of cmin shown in the table.

For shear loads applied close to an edge (c < 10 hef or < 60 d) concrete edge failure must be checked per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A.

3) Concrete is considered non-cracked when the tensile stress within the concrete is σL + σR ≤ 0. In the absence of detailed verifi cation σR = 3 N/mm2 can be assumed (σL equals the tensile stress within the concrete as a result of external loads, forces on anchors included).

4) If spacings or edge distances become smaller than the characteristic values (i.e. s ≤ scr,N

and/or c ≤ ccr,N

) a calculation per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A must be performed. For details, see ETA-08/0276.

5) Not included in the approval ETA-08/0276.

6) Type BoA-X 16/95 is not included in ETA-08/0276. Permissible loads in C20/25 to C50/60 cracked concrete: Nperm = 6.4 [kN] ; Vperm = 6,4 [kN]. Permissible loads in C20/25 to C50/60 non-cracked concrete: Nperm = 10.0 [kN] ; Vperm = 10.0 [kN].

For shear loads applied close to an edge (c < 10 hef or < 60 d) concrete edge failure must be checked per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A.

Function: After drilling and cleaning the hole, the adhesive mortar is

injected with an applicator gun. A static mixing nozzle assures that

the chemical components are properly mixed. Immediately after-

wards a threaded stud is inserted into the resin with a twisting

action to ensure even distribution of resin over the stud length and to

displace any entrapped air. After the adhesive mortar has cured, the

anchor can be fully loaded. The completed chemical reaction creates

a durable expansion pressure free bond between the anchor stud,

the reacted resin, and the concrete.

Benefits:

● Fixing produces no expansion pressure

● Reduced edge distances and spacings

● Installation into damp holes permitted

● Completely seals drilled hole

● Virtually odour free

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: The VESF Chemical Anchor system consists of a threaded stud and a 2-component chemical-fi lled cartridge system.

The mortar is injected into the drilled hole with an applicator gun. A static mixing nozzle is used to ensure that the chemical components are properly mixed. A chemical reaction ensues and the mortar cures over a time period depending on the base material temperature.

Immediately after injection, a threaded stud is inserted into the hole.

After the adhesive mortar has cured, the anchor can be fully loaded. The completed chemical reaction creates a durable expansion pressure free bond between the anchor stud, the reacted resin, and the concrete.

The bond strength between the cured chemical and the drilled hole is dependent on the thorough cleaning of the drilled hole. Follow the installation instructions carefully.

SHELF LIFE:12 months after manufacture when stored according to the above recommendations. The manufacturing date is printed on the cartridge.

INSTALLATION:

4) If spacings or edge distances become smaller than the characteristic values (i.e. s ≤ scr,N and/or c ≤ ccr,N) a calculation per ETAG 001, Annex C, design method A must be performed. For details, see ETA 09/0153 (A4 pending).

Function: After drilling and cleaning the hole, the adhesive mortar

is injected with an applicator gun. A static mixing nozzle assures

that the chemical components are properly mixed. Immediately

afterwards a threaded stud is inserted into the resin with a twisting

action to ensure even distribution of resin over the stud length and to

displace any entrapped air. For fixing into hollow masonry, a plastic

or metal sieve is used in order to prevent excessive flow of the adhe-

sive into the masonry voids. After the adhesive mortar has cured, the

anchor can be fully loaded. The completed chemical reaction creates

a durable expan sion pressure free bond and/or mechanical interlock

between the anchor stud, the reacted resin, and the base material.

Benefits:

● Fixing produces no expansion pressure

● Reduced edge distances and spacings

● Completely seals drilled hole

● Fast-curing

BENEFITS: Causes no expansion pressure Completely seals drilled hole Reduced edge distances and spacings No special setting tool required for threaded stud

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: The INJECTION 2000 Chemical Anchor system consists of a threaded stud and a 2-component chemical-fi lled cartridge system.

The mortar is injected into the drilled hole with an applicator gun. In the case of hollow masonry, a plastic or metal sieve is used in order to prevent excessive fl ow of the adhesive into the masonry voids. A static mixing nozzle is used to ensure that the chemical components are properly mixed. A chemical reaction ensues and the mortar cures over a time period depending on the base material temperature.

Immediately after injection, a threaded stud is inserted into the hole (or sieve).

After the adhesive mortar has cured, the anchor can be fully loaded. The completed chemical reaction creates a durable expansion pressure free bond and/or mechanical interlock between the anchor stud, the reacted resin, and the base material.

INSTALLATION:Pre-fix installation shown

CHEMICAL ANCHOR PLUSPolyester anchoring system for secure fi xinginto non-cracked concrete.

Function: After drilling and cleaning the hole, the capsule is inserted into

the hole and the anchor stud is driven with a rotating/hammering action.

This breaks the capsule and mixes the contents. The resulting chemical

reaction creates a durable expansion pressure free bond between the

anchor stud, the reacted resin, and the concrete.

Benefits:

● Expansion pressure free

● Reduced permissible edge distances and spacings

● Completely seals drilled hole

CHEMICAL ANCHOR PLUS TECHNICAL DATA

1) Permitted loads per anchor in non-cracked concrete of strength C20/25 to C50/60 (B25 to B55) for axial tension, shear, and oblique loads.

2) Concrete is considered non-cracked when the tensile stress within the concrete σL + σ

R ≤

0. In the absence of a detailed analysis σ

R = 3 N/mm2 can be assumed (σ

L equals the tensile stress within the

concrete resulting from external loads, including forces on the anchor).

3) If spacings or edge distances are smaller than the characteristic values, the permissible loads shall be reduced based on the Kappa method (see Z-21.3-1772, Annexes 4 + 5).

Complete your designs more easily by downloading our LIEBIG anchor software from our home-page: www.simpson-liebig.com

WECOThe dependable brass plug anchor with three-piece expansion mechanism.

Function: When the bolt is installed, it compresses the three internal

expansion components and expands the anchor in a displacement

controlled fashion. The expansion segments develop a frictional grip

with the sidewalls of the hole. This gives the anchor its resistance to

tension loads.

Benefits:

● Corrosion resistant brass material

● Can be installed flush with the base material surface

or deeply embedded

● No special setting tool is required

● Often used with spiral anchor in masonry cavity walls

1. Drill and clean hole. 2. Insert plug and bolt

assembly until standoff

is achieved.

3. Anchor expands when bolt

is tightened.

INSTALLATION:

Setting standoff:

Insert plug and bolt assembly until

bolt head standoff “N” is achieved.
