The Coex
Mall complex
is located in
Southeast corner
of Seoul, South
Korea. The complex is
a newly developed area
that includes trade,
shopping, resturants,
entertainment and much
more. The Millennium Plaza
on the Southeast corner of
the Coex mall is where the
Samsung Kiosk will be
located. Millennium Plaza is one level below ground with viewing
from the main ground level.
There are 3 main zones of circulation through-
out the space with zone 2 being the main one.

Site Sun Angles Location of Samsung Kiosk in Millennium plaza
The Millennium plaza connects the
main subway station to the Coex
Mall complex and is therefore a
high traffic area. The kiosk has
been placed so that when a user
enters either from Coex mall or
from the subway, they will be able
to easily see the ‘s’ shape of the
kiosk. It has also been placed in
the main traffic zone to entice
users to come inside but also has
easy circulation to accomodate
the high traffic area.

This kisok design was assessed
using anthropometric concepts to
test the usability for as many
users as possible.
GOAL:
This kiosk was assessed using the
5th to the 95th percentiles of men
and women test the usability of
the space for as many users as
possible.
TIGHT PROXIMICS AND MAX CAPACITY
16.
This diagram represents the maximum capacity of people
allowed in the kiosk without personal space intrusion.
The kiosk interior was designed
for appropriate space for
accessible circulation.

MEN DISPLAY VIEWING ANGLES WOMEN DISPLAY VIEWING ANGLES
The display
areas were
assessed by the 5th
and 95th percentile
measurements when
considering the placement
of shelving and display
screens. This is measured
by the visual limit angles,
eye rotation angles, and the
standard sight line.
18.
DISPLAY VIEWING ANGLES
The display areas are
also visually pleasing
for users in wheelchairs.
Their visual limits must
expand but the products
and visual displays are
still within the vision
field.

19.
The display area accommodates for a variety of users to access the proucts on the
shelves and counters. After further analysis, there may need to be a slightadjustment
for the shelving heights. Wheelchair reach was well considered when planning the
shelf and countertop heights. Underneath the countertops there is room to allow a
wheelchair to roll directly up to the products.

The popliteal height is the
measurement from the floor
to the bottom side of the
thigh. The height of the bench
accommodates for a majority
of the users in the kiosk
Body breadth is the measurement from
the outmost point of one side of the
body to the other. The bench allows
enough space for multiple people to
occupy the bench at one time without
breaking the personal space bubble.
