KUALA LUMPUR, 30 MAY 2016 – Kerjaya Sukses Sdn Bhd, the local partner of global HRconsulting firm BTI Consultants, today launches its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)initiativeindirectsupportofthree(3)keysegmentsoftheworkforce–a)RetrenchedWorkers,b)SingleMothers/WomenReturningtotheWorkforce,andc)UnemployedGraduates.AccordingtoKerjayaSukses’Chairman,TanSriDatukSeriAzizanAriffin,thisCSRinitiativeisinresponse to the nation’s existing talent gap that has been aggravated by the current ‘soft’economy.TanSriAzizansays,“Findingshaveshownthatthecountryislosingoutoncriticaltalentfoundin unemployed graduates, retrenched workers, and female labour participation. Thesecategoriesofindividualsareveryvaluabletalentresourcebutduetoeconomiccircumstanceshavebeenmisplaced.”KerjayaSukses’CSRinitiativeisaimedataddressingthetalentandhumanresourceissuesthatare related to national interests, by leveraging its close partnership with major talentconsultancyfirmBTIConsultants.Three categories of individuals that stand to benefit from the CSR programmes are:a) CategoryA-HighSchoolLeaversorUnemployedGraduates;
b) CategoryB-ExecutivesundergoingaCareerChangeorinTransition;
c) CategoryC-SingleMothersorWomenReturningToWork.
StatisticalFindings
Tan Sri Azizan says industry trends and research shows that employees in Malaysia areincreasinglyconcernedaboutjobsecurity.ThenumberofMalaysianprofessionalsfearfuloflosingtheirjobshasmorethandoubledsincethe fourth quarter of 2014. A survey found that 13%ofMalaysian employeeswereworriedabouttheirjobsecurityin2015,comparedwith6%inthepreviousyear.Thetotalnumberofretrenchedworkershavebeenrisingyear-on-yearsincethethirdquarterof2014,according toMaybankResearch findings.Retrenchments in theoil&gas sectorhasbeenontheuptrendsincethesecondhalfof2014andacceleratedinthefirstquarterof2015.Atthesametime,servicesindustrieslikefinance,insurance,businessservices,transportation,storage and communications also showed uptrends. The Malaysian Employers Federationrevealedthat26,000peoplewereretrenchedin2015andmoreexpectedthisyear;whiletheHumanResourcesMinistrysaid,inJanuarythisyear5,009workerswereretrenched.Intermsofuniversitygraduates, theHumanResourcesMinistryhasfoundthatabout50,000undergraduateswho flood the jobmarket annually endupunemployed yearly.According totheMinstry,between2010and2013,unemployedfemalegraduatesoutnumberedtheirmalecounterparts.
