individual counseling provide opportunities for patients to come to understand

addiction as a disease and to become aware of the triggers that could lead them to

relapse.

Treatment of the family is important to breaking the dysfunctional relationships that

become established during active addiction, so families are encouraged to participate

in our weekend family education and counseling sessions. Mental health counseling

is available as an optional component of the program for those women who also

have psychological issues, including family of origin and trauma. Familiarity with

and long-term use of self-help recovery support groups is also a goal of treatment.

Brief Description of Treatment Philosophy

Chemical dependency is a disease treated by abstinence from alcohol and other

mood-altering drugs. The goal of our treatment is to provide the individual with

tools for self-awareness and clean and sober living that will support the patient after

they have completed the residential treatment experience. Both group and

individual counseling provide opportunities for patients to come to understand

addiction as a disease and to become aware of the triggers that could lead them to

Nicotine Recovery Services

Evergreen Manor is a tobacco-free environment. We offer nicotine abuse/addictions

supports including: nicotine patches and gum, when available (only for those on

Brief Description of Treatment Philosophy

For over 30 years we have provided behavioral health services to youth and their

families through several programs, both inpatient and outpatient. In an effort to serve

the whole person, not just a presenting problem, Excelsior provides a holistic

approach, co-occurring treatment, and specialized services to all individuals

regardless of the program.

Excelsior's therapeutic orientation relates to the belief that the best treatment is done

in a holistic manner, i.e., taking into account the many aspects of each individual,

and creating a plan which addresses multiple areas, not focusing on one particular

problem or need, at the expense of other needs and issues. Ideally, Excelsior's

substance use programs will be successful in helping each client, youth, and family

to strengthen those aspects of themselves which were initially identified as areas of

concern, or need, while at the same time, reinforcing through services, the qualities

assessed as positive strengths and abilities.

Brief Description of Treatment Philosophy

Lifeline agrees with the 1987 resolution of the American Medical Association that

states that all chemical dependencies are diseases. Chemical dependency is a

treatable illness that affects individuals as well as their families. While not curable,

alcoholism and other drug addictions are treatable. We subscribe to a holistic

approach in the treatment of chemical dependency. The central goal of all chemical

dependency treatment programs operated by Lifeline is the goal of abstinence. With

proper assessment and referral to appropriate treatment modalities, by abstaining

from psychoactive substances, and by inclusion in support programs, folks who

suffer from alcohol dependence and other drug addictions can recover from their

disease..

Nicotine Recovery Services

Lifeline Connections supports reduction and cessation of nicotine use and

dependence through education, prescribed medicine and social support.

Brief Description of Treatment Philosophy

Alcoholism and other drug addictions constitute a primary, chronic disease with

Like any other illness, chemical dependency must be treated by skilled

professionals. Since 1969, we have successfully treated all aspects of this disease,

including the needs of special populations. At Olalla Recovery Centers, we provide

the means to achieve and maintain abstinence. Patients are respected, their

confidentiality is observed and understanding extended to them during this difficult

time.

Nicotine Recovery Services

At Olalla, smoking is restricted to certain times and in a designated smoking area.

We offer education, information and counseling to those in need of nicotine

recovery services. The Tobacco Quitline is used to supply patients with nicotine

replacement therapy (NRT).

program specially designed for adult women; those needing recovery skills,

environmental support, and personal empowerment.

Specific Strengths of Agency

Our primary focus is for chemical dependency recovery, and we address the

following substances with general education, group problem solving dynamics, and

weekly individual sessions: methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, alcohol, marijuana,

nicotine, and other substances that may be a dependency or abuse issue. We view

nicotine as a primary drug of choice and leading cause to relapse for other

substances as well as a primary health care issue; therefore, PWC is a tobacco free

environment.

Specific Admission Criteria

For entry, a contact with Penny Bissenas, our admissions coordinator must be made

with information of DSHS eligibility. She can be reached at our parent facility,

Brief Description of Treatment Philosophy

We additionally address parenting and child development with as much emphasis as

we do the dependency issue. Parenting is a difficult job, and for women with

substance dependency, possible relationship violence or aggression, mental health

components from trauma histories, and other historical factors, it can be

overwhelming. Our in-house therapeutic childcare center is designed to advance the

children’s’ individual domains of growth and development. Mothers learn basic

child development and relational bonding & attachment needs in the educational and

process groups led by the therapeutic childcare director. Our staff is familiar with

high-risk infants and utilizes information from the Kent PIC unit. University of

Washington’s NCAST trainings are also utilized for our parenting support.

We work closely with the Division of Children and Family Services, as we

understand the goal for safe, productive reunification of these families. We also

work closely with drug courts and various judicial systems to support reconciliation

from the destruction caused by behaviors of chemical dependency. PWC maintains

a “personal responsibility” view of the recovery process.

Brief Description of Treatment Philosophy

The agency’s Intensive Inpatient Program is based on William Glasser’s theoretical

constructs, Choice Theory and Reality Therapy. We believe that addiction is a

disease process, but in order to place the disease into remission, the addictive

behavior must be changed. Since the etiology of addiction varies, behavior is the

best common denominator. We teach that all behavior is need fulfilling, and stems

from the basic needs of love and belonging, power, freedom, fun and survival. The

counselors work with their patients to evaluate current behaviors and develop new

Nicotine Recovery Services

We provide tobacco use areas for patients that are within the state guidelines for the

State of Washington Smoking Regulations Ban. We do not have groups designated

for smoking cessation at this time, however we do write treatment plans for patients

who wish to stop their tobacco use, offer information, and have resources available

for patients that want to quit smoking. We also have designated non-smoking areas.

We do have non-smoking staff that would be available for support to employees and

patients who would like to quit smoking, Tobacco Quit Line information, and we

participate in the Great American Smoke Out yearly. We have information cards for

the Tobacco Quit Line that we hand out to the patients, that if eligible, will supply

nicotine patches and weekly contact for support.
