OPENING DATE ANNOUNCEDHuge progress has been made at the Centre with the kitchen, toilets, lift, hoisting & changing place facility now installed. The decorating has been completed with grateful thanks to the huge generosity of HSS Hire in Darlington who have kindly loaned us the equipment to allow us to do this work. The light, sound & projection company start work in the main sensory area during W/C 22nd February and have already started work at their site, creating our unique lighting rig in the shape of a dragon! The soft play, sensory equipment and padding will start to be installed at the beginning of March. We continue to fund raise and seek grant opportunities enable us to finish purchasing the specialist equipment we need to ensure that the Centre will offer the best outcomes and benefits to our visitors. With thanks to a grant of £264,000 from The Big Lottery – Reaching Communities programme – we will be able to employ qualified staff at the Centre. This funding is towards running costs over 5 years on a sliding scale, after which the Centre will need to be fully sustainable by itself. We couldn’t have achieved what we have without the massive support & generosity from funders, charitable trusts, local organisations and our supporters to whom we are hugely grateful.
