more are needed to meet demand.

averaging a huge £1446.76. Top price to MD & LK Keen whose Hereford
grossed a huge £1581.15 or 124.50p/kg with the best of James Foot’s
Simmental bulls to 129.50p/kg or £1399 with another to £1359. Consistent
prices here at Frome, your bulls are wanted.
OTM Max. 209.50p/kg & £1359 Trade on fire with top price going to W Ware & Sons once again seeing 30mo
Hereford steers to 209.50p/kg or a huge £1512. Blue steers also to 209.50p/kg
or £1359. Blue heifers from the same home flew to 203.50p/kg or £1174, Angus
heifers to 195.50p/kg or £1198 and Herefords to 203.50p/kg or £1296. 2 older

exceptionally well sold with leaner types in today’s average. Top of the day a
monster price at 195.50p/kg or £1434 for John Kembery’s Limousin. Other
Limousins from James Foot sold well to 149p/kg or £1187, Simmentals from the
same home to 124.50p/kg or £806. Good to see Lockerley Hall Farm of
Romsey here again with their Charolais cows storming to £1433 or 167.50p/kg.
Plenty of Dairy types on offer topping at 144.50p/kg or £1119, with others to
£1036 or 137.50p/kg. Foremore Ltd a good show of cows forward seeing
Friesians to 143.50p/kg or £958, their usual Brown Swiss soared to 135.50p/kg
or £789. Good quality Swedish Red cows from Scott & Charlie Shergold topped
at 139.50p/kg or £1037. Leaner types look well sold with most 100p/kg+. Best
Jerseys sold to 78p/kg from P & J Dennison. Cows seriously sought after at

Handy weights enjoyed a flyer with best to 264p/kg and £120 from Paul Crew of Shapland Farm Partners. A lot of heavier lambs forward which enjoyed a flying trade with best types to 256p/kg from Padfield & Dyke and £140 from M Maidment. CULL EWES & RAMS (120) Max £108 A smaller entry of ewes which consisted mainly of the smaller, leaner hill type ewes. Best types to £108 from CT Baker of Trudoxhill. Rams to £106 from M Maidment. Any ewes with strength and power were few and far between today but still made £85+. More ewes wanted and needed each week.
STORE LAMBS (182) Max £99.50 A cracking entry of store lambs forward which enjoyed another flying trade with best lambs to £99.50 from R Jeffery. Any lamb with power, strength and flesh all £82+. Strong lambs needed on a weekly basis.

Calved Heifers to £1730 This week should see the end of harvest and hopefully a few more numbers will come forward to enjoy this lively trade. Super cross bred calved heifers from Brian Fielding topped at a strong £1730. More good types forward from DW & CE Jones which saw their Holstein Friesian calved heifers at £1670. A nice well presented home bred calved heifer from HJ Masters & Son produced competitive bidding to £1550. Dairy black & white heifer calves generally at £100.

Generally a good sample of weaned types on offer. 4mo Hereford x steers &
heifers from J & N Proctor saw steers at £555 and heifers to £510. Angus x
continuing to create plenty of trade with 2mo steers at £402. Blue x from the same
home to £350 & £340. A smart consignment of Charolais & Blue x bulls 3 – 5mo
from BG Newman & Partners had a good trade to £398 and £430. Overall more
could have been sold to high levels today.

CALVES (213) Starts 09.30am AUCTIONEERS: TIM HECTOR 07818 056 049 CHARLIE COLEMAN: 07494 588 013 More forward, with plenty of good quality calves which saw a fast trade once again.
CONTINENTAL BULLS TO £470/CONTINENTAL HEIFERS TO £415 Plenty of well-shaped sorts saw a brisk trade from start to finish. Some medium calves saw a more selective trade. Best bulls soared past £350 to see Blue bulls twice to £470 from C & P Milton and Filer & Miller. Charolais bulls twice over £400 to top at £452 from RTJ Voizey & Partners. Best shaped heifers were well sought with strong demand from start to finish. An absolutely superb young Blue heifer sold to a fantastic £415 from RTJ Voizey & Partners. Other Blues saw top 10 all over £275, Charolais to £295 and £260 from RD Knight. Limousins to £295, £275 and £225 from Pete Turner and Simmentals to £288 from RD Knight.
NATIVE BULLS TO £385/NATIVE HEIFERS TO £272 Plenty through the ring but overall a more selective trade especially for heifers and smaller sorts. Best shaped calves sold well to see Angus bulls to £385 from WJ Weeks & Son and £345 from Pennard Farms Ltd. Hereford bulls to £280 from BG Newman & Partners. Angus heifers twice to £250 from RJ & AL Doggrell. Hereford heifers to £272 from WJ Weeks & Son.
FRIESIAN TO £148 FLECKVIEH TO £315 More forward and a firm trade for all rearing sorts. A good entry of Holsteins from Pennard Farms Ltd saw their bulls to £148, £132, £120 and £104. Norwegian and Swedish Reds from WR Phippen on offer saw best calves over £200 to top at £315 from MP & MA Hannam & Son.
The winner of the £25 for the top price Continental Sired heifer under 41 days sponsored by Howard & Sons – Kubota, was a Blue to £415 from RTJ Voizey & Partners. STEERS TO £1425 HEIFERS TO £1380 Only one Dairy type suckler forward today with a Smart Angus 2mo steer calf.
Trade was lively and topped at £1000.
YOUNG CONTINENTAL As expected very few suckled and younger Continentals forward at the moment
but as the harvest gets completed and autumn approaches more seasonal
numbers will come forward. Sweet 4mo weaned calves were very sought after
with Blue x steers at £460 and heifers at £440. Simmental x heifers from the
same home reached £430. Excellent 13mo Simmental steers from Dave Carnell
commanded excellent bidding to £925 while closely followed by his heifers to
£830. Bradley & Jason Newman again selling quality Blue x 15mo heifers
topping at £800. Overall, plenty of trade and more cattle needed.

ANGUS A marvellous show of quality here again. Leading the charge was Graham Read’s
corking 27mo Angus steers to £1425 and £1330. Cracking 25mo steers from the
Kendall family of Shaftesbury raced away to £1295 and £1105 for steers. A
pleasure to welcome Steve Franklin here from East Sussex seeing his
exceptional 19 – 23mo steers to £1250 and £1128. Less heifers forward but those
here saw GA Potter’s 24mo goods to £1175. Kenny Rostigina’s 22mo heifers
raced to £1148, with steers to £952. Usual quality from Messrs Lloyd-Harris
seeing suckler bred Angus steers to £1095 and £1000 (18mo) with younger
heifers to £782 and £750. No younger Angus forward. Trade still on absolute fire!
HEREFORD Several Herefords coming through today and all saw plenty of demand. A good
consignment of Hereford x steers from Andy & Marie Robinson (15 – 17mo)
produced some lively bidding regularly £850 - £885. Super suckled Hereford
steers & heifers from Mrs S Lloyd-Harris 15 – 16mo had a marvellous trade with
all keen for these top sorts which peaked at £945 for steers and £928 for
heifers. Top spot in this section went to a long-term supporter Reg Cook of
Brewham for his 16mo Hereford steer at £990.

Fleckvieh steers continuing to create immense prices with grand types from Paul Hurd at £1422 and £1290, closely followed by R Kendall to £1175.
FORWARD CONTINENTAL What an exceptional trade, cattle quite literally on fire! Topping the day was
Frome regulars Paul & Olly Hurd seeing their 28mo Fleckvieh steer race to
£1422 and £1290, Parthenaise steers to £1340 and £1335. Stonking
Parthenaise heifers (29mo) flew to £1380 and £1375. A single beauty of a Blue
steer from Steve Franklin & family flew to £1380. A pretty well shaped Charolais
from the Kendall family of Shaftesbury roared to £1380. 24mo Simmental
heifers from the Carnell family well sold to £1180. Exceptional steers from WH
& MA Crew saw Blues to £1232 and Simmentals to £1225. Well farmed Luings
from Rich & Anita Manley flew away to £1030 for well jacketed steers, trade is
terrific, now is the time to present your cattle.
