This year’s Forage & Grazing School will feature an expert on Management Intensive Grazing, a prac-tice for improving productivity from your pasture and livestock. You will learn how you can increase your stocking rates while improving pastures. Chad Cheyney, retired UI Extension Educator, de-veloped the Lost Rivers Grazing Academy, a 4-day long workshop, on this topic. Other speakers will address weed control for hay and pasture ground, fertility and soils, using cover crops for grazing, and the market outlook for hay and cattle. Speak-ers include Glenn Shewmaker, Idaho’s Extension Forage Specialist, as well as other University of Idaho Extension Specialists and industry leaders. Pesticide recertification and continuing education credits will be available. Lunch will be provided. Materials include a thumb drive with all of the presentations and handouts. Bring your questions!

Hay and cattle production are major indus-tries in north Idaho. Hay is harvested on over 50,000 acres harvested in North Idaho each year, averaging 2 tons per acre. Our North Idaho Forage & Grazing School will bring the latest research and product infor-mation for producers, including manage-ment intensive grazing, hay varieties, weeds, preservatives, economics, and cov-er crop productions.

North Idaho Forage School will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Ponderay Event Center, 401 Bonner Mall Parkway Ponderay, ID. A $15.00 registration fee per person co-vers room rental, supplies, and handouts, including a memory stick with all of the presentations and handouts. Our room can accommodate up to 75 registrants. Please return the registration form on the back of this flyer with payment by Tuesday, Oct. 25, to assure your place and to help us plan.
