    Fuel pump shut-off switch: In the event of an accident thesafety sw itch w illautom atically cut off the fuel sup ply to the

    BREAKING-IN YOUR VEHICLE

    Your vehicle does not need an extensive break-in. Try not to drivecon tinuously at the sam e speed for the first 1,000 m iles (1,600 km ) ofnew vehicle operation.Vary your speed frequently in order to give the

    m oving parts a chan ce to break in.D rive your new vehicle at least 500 m iles (800 km ) before tow ing atrailer.F or m ore d etailed inform ation abou t tow ing a trailer,refer toT r a i l e r to w i n g in the Tires, Wheels and Loading chapter.

    WARNING LIGHTS AND CHIMES

    W arning lights and gauges can alert you to a vehicle condition that m aybecom e serious en ough to cause extensive repairs.A w arning light m ayillum inate w hen a problem exists w ith on e of your veh icles functions.M any lights w illillum inate w hen you start your vehicle to m ake sure thebulbs w ork. If any light rem ains on after starting the veh icle, refer to therespective system w arning light for addition al inform ation .

    Check engine: T he Check En gin eindicator ligh t illum inates w hen theign ition is first turned to the O Nposition to check the bulb.Solidillum ination after the en gine is started indicates the O n B oardD iagnostics System (O B D -II) has detected a m alfunction.R efer toOnboard diagnostics (OBD-II) in the Main tenan ce and Specif icationschapter.If the light is blinking, engine m isfire is occurring w hich could

    dam age your catalytic con verter.D rive in a m od erate fashion (avoidheavy acceleration and deceleration) and have you r vehicle servicedim m ediately by your authorized dealer.

    U nder en gine m isfire conditions,excessive exhaust tem peraturescou ld dam age the catalytic con verter,the fuel system ,interior

    floor coverings or other vehicle com pon ents,possibly causing a fire.

    D riving a veh icle w ith the brake system w arning light on isdangerous.A significant decrease in braking p erform ance m ay

    occur.It w illtake you longer to stop the vehicle. H ave the vehiclechecked by your authorized dealer.

    Oil Life/Oil Change: O IL LIF Edisplayed w hen the engine oilliferem aining is 10 percent and againw hen the engine oillife rem aining isbetw een 5% and 1% . W hen oillifeleft reaches 0% ,the O IL C H A N G E m essage w illbe displayed. A n oilchange is required w henever indicated by the display and according tothe recom m ended m aintenance schedule.U SE O N LY R E C O M M E N D E DE N G IN E O ILS.

    To reset the oilm on itoring system to 100% after each oilchange[approxim ately 5,000 m iles (8,000 km ) or 180 days] perform thefollow ing:

    1. Tap on the O D O /T R IP button to toggle the display betw een theodom eter and trip odom eter.

    2. Tap on the O D O /T R IP button again to toggle the display betw een thetrip odom eter and O IL LIF E X X % display.

    3. P ress and hold the O D O /T R IP button for ten second s or m ore todisplay O IL LIF E 100% .You r oillife is now reset.

    4. Tap on the O D O /T R IP button to return the display to odom eter.

    Removing a CD/DVD (while playing)

    1. P ress the ST O P/E JE C T control to stop playback if a d isc is playing.

    If the C D /D V D is not rem oved w ithin the allotted tim e, the system w illpu llthe C D /D VD back into the system for safety pu rposes.

    T he ignition m ust be in the 3 (R U N ) position to operate the rear w ind owdefroster.

    T he rear d efroster turns off autom atically after 10 m inutes or w hen theignition is turned to the 1 (LO C K ) position.To m anually turn off thedefroster before 10 m inu tes have passed, pu sh the control again.

    Do not use razor blades or other sharp objects to clean the insideof the rear window or to remove decals from the inside of therear window. This may cause damage to the heated grid lines andwill not be covered by your warranty.

    AIMING THE HEADLAMPS

    Vertical aim adjustment

    1. P ark the vehicle directly in front of a w allor screen on a level surface,approxim ately 25 feet (7.6 m eters) aw ay.

    2. M easure the height of theheadlam p bulb center from thegroun d and m ark an 8 foot (2.4m eter) h orizontal reference line onthe verticalw allor screen at thisheight (a piece of m asking tape w orks w ell).

    3. Turn on the low beam head lam ps to illum inate the w allor screen andopen the hood.

    To see a clearer light pattern for adjusting, you m ay w ant to block thelight from one headlam p w hile adjusting the other.

    4. O n the w allor screen you w illobserve an area of high intensitylight.T he top of the h igh intensityarea shou ld touch the h orizontalreference line, if not,the beam w illneed to be adjusted.

    5. Locate the verticaladjuster oneach headlam p .U sing a P hillips #2

    screw driver,turn the adjuster eitherclockw ise (to adjust dow n) orcou nterclockw ise (to adjust up).T he horizontaledge of the brighterlight should touch the horizontalreference line.

    6. C lose the hood and turn off thelam ps.
