Member InformationRemember in the October issue when Diana had written about Kirk Porter and how MCC had collectedover 2,000 golf balls to send to Afghanistan? Well, Kirk responded via email and here is what he had tosay:“I want to so thank you all so much, and everyone else that helped out with getting all of those golf ballsand sending them out here. My Soldier's and I have enjoyed them a ton and we still have a couplehundred left to hit before it gets cold and the rainy season rolls in on us. I know this thank you is longoverdue, but I wanted to send you some pictures as well along with the thank you.”

Also, a thank you goes out to Randy O’Boyle, who paid to ship 6 MORE boxes to Kirk’s unit!

Please remember our service men and women who are currently deployed and away from their families during theHolidays. A Christmas card would be nice. And for those, who are compelled, to send a Care Package toAfghanistan, below are some suggested items. Please note that delivery may take 2 - 3 weeks, so mail your itemssoon. Kirk would be happy to distribute Care Packages to his fellow soldiers.

Chap stick, hand sanitizer towels, Baby Wipes, hard candy, gum, flavored coffee, hot chocolate mix, CD's, DVD's,cotton socks, fleece blankets, waterless toothbrushes, anything which reminds them of "HOME", cards which theycan send to their loved ones back in the States.

A Note from Our Golf Pro

I want to take this time to personally thank all the people that have been a member at Manhattan Country Clubsince 1996. I have enjoyed my time here and have experienced great memories with many of you. Providing agood golfing experience for you was a goal of mine every day…whether you were playing a quick 9 holes, playing inthe Member-Guest tournament, or out with your friends or family for a fun round of golf… I always wanted you toenjoy your time at MCC.

Golf is a lifelong sport and the values in a golfer are one that I admire, that is why I have always had a passion forgolf. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching the sport to many men, women and children. Golf is incredible to many, but is frustrating at times. The improvement I’ve seen in scores and attitude on the course has been veryrewarding as an instructor. Especially watching kids learn to love the game and then to see them compete asteenagers or an adult has been fun to follow.

My wife, Tonya, and I thank you for welcoming our kids, Michelle, David, and Scott as they themselves learnedhow to play golf here at Manhattan Country Club. Michelle was just 2 years old and our twin boys were not bornyet when Tonya and I first came. Many of you have encouraged them as they have developed into golfers andhave grown up. Michelle is now 20 and David & Scott are 17…so thank you MCC for being our 2nd family.

Lastly, I can’t say enough how much I have appreciated the support and friendship now and over the years. Mywork as the Head Golf Professional at Manhattan Country Club for nearly 18 years will stay with me forever. I wishyou all the best and I look forward to keeping in touch with you.

Read the GreensAs the cold temperatures have arrived, mowing has become few and far between. The greens willcontinue to get rolled until the ground freezes. We continue to stay busy, mulching leaves andraking pine needles. Later this month, we will clear brush around various areas, as well as cutdown and remove dead pine trees. 2020 Also, we will be performing annual service on our mowers.

Thank you for your continued patience with frost delays. Your patience is greatly appreciated. Asalways, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact us at anytime.
