April, 2022 to 12th

Significant features as on date 28th
April, 2022:-
A cyclonic circulation lies over East Uttar Pradesh & neighbourhood and extends upto 0.9 km above mean sea level.
A trough runs from the above cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh to south Assam across Bihar & West Bengal at 0.9 km
above mean sea level.
Past week (21st April, 2022 to 27
th April, 2022) significant weather:-
As per media reports hailstorm has occurred Malkangiri of Malkangiri District and thunderstorm with gusty wind (breaking
trees) have occurred at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Bolangir, Nawarangpur, Malkangiri in past 24 hours as
reported at 0830 hrs IST of 22nd
April, 2022.
Isolated Heat wave condition prevailed over the districts of North Interior Odisha on 26th
& 27th
April.
Past week (21st April, 2022 to 27
th April, 2022) maximum temperature:-
Maximum temperatures were above normal by 3-4⁰C at a few places over the districts of Odisha and near normal over the rest
parts of Odisha throughout the week.
During the week highest maximum temperature was observed as 44.5⁰C over Boudh on 26th
April & over Sonepur on 27th
April, 2022 in the plains of Odisha. Weekly temperature distribution is depicted in map below.

th April, 2022) rainfall distribution:-
Light to moderate rain / thundershower has occurred at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhargarh,
Balasore, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Dhenkanal & Gajapati and dry weather prevailed over the rest districts of Odisha on 21st April,
at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha on 22nd
April, 2022. Light
rain / thunderstorm has occurred at one or two place over the districts of Rayagada, Sambalpur & Balasore and dry weather
prevailed over the rest districts of Odisha on 23rd
April, at one or two place over the district of Koraput of South Interior Odisha and
dry weather prevailed over the rest districts of Odisha on 24th
April, at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak,
Keonjhar & Sundergarh of north Odisha and dry weather prevailed over the rest districts of Odisha on 25th
April, at one or two
places over the districts of Malkangiri, Rayagada & Gajapati of South Odisha and dry weather prevailed over the rest districts of
Odisha on 26th
April. Light to moderate rain / thunderstorm has occurred at one or two places over the districts of Rayagada,
Gajapati & Ganjam of South Odisha and dry weather prevailed over the rest districts of Odisha on 27th

st week and isolated to scattered rain/thunderstorm activity very
likely in 2nd

th May) over districts of Odisha and overall rainfall likely to be slightly below normal.
Maximum temperature (Day temperature) is very likely to be above normal by 3 -4⁰ C at many places over the districts of
interior Odisha and above normal by 2-3⁰ C over coastal Odisha in 1st week. Isolated heat wave condition is very likely to
prevail in the beginning of 1st week over the districts of interior Odisha.
Isolated to Scattered rain/thunderstorm activity is likely over the districts Odisha during 2nd
week (6th
to 12th
May) and overall
rainfall likely to be near normal. Maximum temperature (Day temperature) is very likely to be slightly above normal by about

2⁰C during 2nd
week over districts of Odisha.
Outlook for low pressure system formation probability over Bay of Bengal during next two weeks:
Guidance from numerical models and current meteorological analysis suggests that there is moderate probability of
formation of a depression over south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal (BoB) areas with gradual
northeastwards movement during first half of 2nd
week and enhanced convective activity over south Andaman Sea &
adjoining areas of southeast & eastcentral BoB, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Myanmar and Thailand.
