Foreshadows
Have you ever wondered what would happen if the internet crashed? Who is to say that one day it justs lets out one big “harrumph,” and we
lose it all?
That’s the message you’ll find if you go to mywebwill.com, the
previous site of a popular digital estate service. While they don’t let you know why they closed shop, the important thing is that these
companies
CAN.
And more of them will. When they do (either from crashing or business reasons), you could lose your data.

“We just see it as this infinity, but it isn’t.”
-Stacey Pitsill ides, digital afterlife researcher
We must always keep in mind that this can happen with ANY site, including Facebook.
Consider this. it could be that the internet never crashes, but rather, that new internets are formed. Data builds. Time goes on. Maybe in 500+ years, we’ll be measuring eras by their World Wide Webs. If that’s the case, we’re only in the first iteration.
And we’re growing fast.
The Chinese government actually encourages digital memorials for its citizens in place of traditional rituals because of the lack of space in cemeteries. Guess what– this is a foreshadowing of what’s going to happen
everywhere.

Overpopulation is a dynamicly important issue at this stage in the human race– people who are 20 right now will live to see the earth’s population reach 9 billion. And more. We should keep in mind that our internet selves will probably end up replacing our physical selves– indefinitely.
