Excitement at Forest Park!!!

At the May Parent Advisory Council meeting, more outdoor seating and gathering areas for children

and the community was discussed. An opportunity arose for our PAC to purchase three concrete

picnic tables at the beginning of June. Almost magically, the three tables appeared on the west side

of the school lawn last Thursday afternoon. Everyone is so excited! Students sit to talk, trade stories

and do schoolwork. This has created a wonderful place for classes to meet and do some schoolwork

outdoors. If you would like to join our Parent Advisory Council for next year, call the school and we

will provide information.

FOREST PARK SCHOOL

On Tuesday, June 3rd Forest Park Community School held a kindergarten pizza

night to welcome our upcoming kindergarteners and their families. We would like

to extend a big thank you to all of the families who were able to join us at the

school that night. After the pizza supper, the children broke into three groups to

engage in different activities. They danced, moved and played cooperative games

in the gym. In the Library, the children played with play dough moulding it into a

variety of shapes and sculptures, and in the kindergarten classroom, we invited

the children to create a paper collage of an apple.

BALANCED SCHOOL DAY COMES TO FOREST PARK

Next year Forest Park School will follow a Balanced School Day. The regular 9:00-3:30 school day will be divided into three equal 100 minute teaching blocks with two nutri-tion and recess breaks. Research shows that regular nutrition breaks and fewer interrup-tions throughout the day have a positive ef-fect on student learning. Throughout the year students will be taught about nutrition in a way to support their learning, growth and play.
