2. Management Conditions on Boundaries Boundary Conditions
Private Property Private property occurs adjacent to the boundary of the compartment, as indicated on the HPOM. Private property owners have been notified of the scheduled harvesting and post-harvest burning. The PP boundary must be located and marked by the FT. The boundary location should be identified using on ground survey markers (cairns, blazes, pegs etc) and compass bearings. As a last resort FCMapApp and GPS may be used with caution. Seek advice from the planner if required.
FMZ FMZ 4 – General Management, occurs within the compartment and is shown on the HPOM.
FMZ 7 – Non-forestry Use, occurs along the western boundary of the compartment and is shown on the HPOM. A powerline runs through this area as well as underground Telstra and Optus cables.
Research Permanent Growth Plots – A PGP (PSA153)) is located north of dump 5 (see HPOM). The PGP is to be treated the same as the surrounding harvested area. The HC must collect all metal measurement tags from trees fallen during harvesting and return them to the Resources and Tactical Planning Manager.
Any other inventory plots located during the harvesting operation which are not shown on the HPOM or described above are to be treated the same as the surrounding area.
Cultural Heritage Surveys have been conducted and no sites were identified.
If any potential heritage sites are identified notify the planner immediately.

Bee Permit holders must be contacted by the HC at least two weeks prior to use of any log dumps that are occupied by bee hives.
Occupation Permit A Utility Occupation Permit (No. CO28189) exists within FMZ 7 Non-forestry Use, along the western boundary of the compartment (as shown on the HPOM). A powerline runs through this area as well as underground Telstra and Optus cables.
6. Infrastructure
Infrastructure Conditions
Utilities Underground Telecommunication cable owned by Telstra and Optus runs parallel through FMZ 7 and is shown on the HPOM. The FT must check the field markers to ensure they are adequate if requires hang additional flagging tape to show location.
If snigging or forwarding over the cable is required the crew must contact an Accredited Plant Locator (Coastal Cable Locators Pty Ltd) on 02 4457 1258 or 0427 975 777 to determine cable depth and suitable crossing point prior to commencing the activity.
The crew must report all damage to underground utilities immediately.
Transmission lines Transmission lines operated by Essential Energy are shown on the HPOM running parallel through FMZ 7.
Safe Work Practice for working near overhead power lines must be implemented by the crew before any work is undertaken within 2 tree lengths.

7. Harvesting Conditions
Silviculture Type Harvesting Objectives and Condition for each stand condition
FMZ 4 - STS The harvest area is predominately mature to over mature Spotted Gum, Blackbutt and Yellow Stringybark in predominately uneven-aged stands. Previous harvesting events have occurred in 1975/76 and 1999.
The objective is to harvest commercially available trees (within BA removal limits) to create canopy openings and ensure mechanical disturbance creates a suitable seed bed for regeneration of the stands.
Crew to retain well-formed seed trees of preferred species at ~40 m spacing.
HC to instruct crew to retain patches of quality advanced regeneration where they occur.
Crew to remove merchantable stems not marked for retention (within BA removal limits) and ensure mechanical disturbance creates a suitable seed bed for regeneration.
The crew is responsible for protecting retained seed trees and retaining patches of advanced regeneration.
Monitoring The HC must conduct Basal Area monitoring in areas treated with STS.
Any changes to treatment and offset areas need to be endorsed by the Operations Planning Manager.
IFOA Limits STS Heavy
STS Tract 159ha
Pre-harvest BA 18m2
Post harvest BA 10m2
Planned Removal 45%
8. Tree Retention - refer to TSL booklet for full conditions
Prescription Condition/Responsibility
Mark-Up – the FT is responsible for marking up the forest ahead of harvesting operations consistent Forest Mark Up and Tree Retention SOP
Compartment Mark-Up Survey
(5.1, 5.2)
Compartment mark-up surveys must be conducted at least 100m in advance of operations. The survey must search for threatened and protected species features listed in conditions 5.1 and 5.2 of the TSL.
Hollow-bearing and Recruitment tree retention (H and R)
Regrowth Zone – TSL 5.6 conditions apply.
Additional H trees for Greater Glider condition does not apply.
FT must select and mark 5 H trees/ha where available and one R for each H retained.

Warning: a printed copy of this document may be uncontrolled. Please verify this is the latest version prior to use.
Stringybark species, Ironbark and Spotted Gum are suitable E tree species present in these compartments.
The crew should avoid damaging flowering or fruiting banksias or grass trees.
Harvesting - crew and HC responsibilities
Protection of Retained Trees (5.6g)
Trees marked or selected for retention must not be felled.
The crew must minimise damage to H, R and E trees by using directional felling.
Harvesting debris should not accumulate within 5m of retained trees. Where debris does accumulate the crew must removed or flatten to < 1m high.
The HC must be notified of any badly damaged retained trees and they must assess and record if a replacement retained tree is required.
Stag Retention (Dead standing trees 5.6e)
The crew should retain stags where safe to do so.
